I am digging the look of this class.
Give us a couple of thick interior defensive linemen, and I'm satisfied, regardless of who else gets the rest of the scholarships.
Go PONIES!

Have we EVER had this many commitments in December?
Coach Bennett is kickin' tail!
"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses." ... "Hit it."

Let's hope reports of Newman being a "mid term" and counting against last year's numbers are true. Not that we will be able to use the full 25 (unless a few guys are going to quit), but we have a lot of solid looking guys still visiting and I hope we don't run short of scholarships. I won't second guess this coaching staff. They appear to be doing a great job of selling SMU...just as Bennett said he could when he took the job.

I don't know exactly how, but I bet Coach Bennet signs a full 25 - and this kid would make 26. Go Coach, go.

we presently have 63 on scholarship -- that gives us 22 to give this year assuming that no one leaves -- if Newman comes here midyear he would count on last years total (we have one to give because Donnie Gilstrap never arrived)

Budda -- you keep listing Ben Poynter as a scholarship commitment which he is not -- i am happy that he is planning to go to smu but he shouldn't be on a list of those who are scholship acceptances -

my mistake on Poynter. I'd heard he was on scholarship, and I'd heard he was an invited walk-on. Where'd you hear he was a walk-on?
Sorry for any confusion.

I can't tell you how much I wish I still lived in Dallas. I can't remember the last time an SMU recruiting class drew this much praise, and here I am, about 1,000 miles away. I always make it down to Dallas for at least one game a year, but with the accolades these guys are racking up, that number will have to grow a little. These guys sound like cornerstone players the program can build around as it gets back to where we all know it should be!

The list may be complete. Bennett has a very specific menu to fill. Also he has a pledge to a host of invited walk on's, grey shirts, and others that have likely earned scolies this past season..SMU may be full up in available spaces supported by scolies...

Psst...this is SMUStudent06...this is my new username. Anyway...there's no way Bennett is done. We have some QUALITY recruits coming on January 10th and I know he and his staff intend on holding a few scholarships for these guys.
