"Improved" Game Presentation

Postby Peruna88 » Sat Sep 06, 2008 11:18 pm

From the press release:

Among other changes slated for 2008 are extensive use of replay board; live scoring updates; use of a roaming sideline reporter and increased involvement from the Mustang Maniac student group.

Replay board - check. Not much different from last year, which was not bad.

Live scoring updates - I didn't hear any or see any quarter or halftime stats on the board. (maybe I just missed them). I was looking forward to increased stats coverage.

Roaming sideline reporter - not sure she was really a "sideline reporter," but she did a good job. I liked the volleyball and soccer teams getting some TV time to promote their teams. And, she was not annoying like Celena Rae at the Stars games.

Student group - someone else will have to comment on that who was over there.

No need to mention the announcer and that train wreck. Eddie P already started another thread. Oh, man that was bad. . .

At least we walked out with a win, can't complain about that!!

I am neither "cute" nor "her." Just not sure who will replace the great Katie Gross as my avatar yet. So, for the time being, it's still Katie.

But thanks for the props.

Did notice the replays, which in the past was a concern of mine. However, the quality on the jumbo tron is terrible. They were showing the student section, and everything looked yellow. Then the field looked yellow. At least those giant speakers weren't there like they were last year.

I didn't see one live scoring update at all.

The sideline reporter thing was nice, but all of the responses were so scripted. Those weren't the most hard hitting questions asked.

Student section looked decent for a majority of the game. Major improvement.

Agreed, the announcer guy was terrible.

And I want to make a bigger issue out of this: What in the hell was that "Pony Up" new tradition Jerry Jeff Walker and back up singers crap? That was horrible. They tainted the field with that crap. It was embarassing. My ears bled until halftime. I am sure I will have nightmares about that tonight.

I said taint.

We need a new jumbotron. That thing looks like it has shrunk in the off season. This day and age you need a board that is HD capable. I'm not asking for godzillatron at UT, I just want a screen that is a little bigger and much more clear.

I thought the same thing, I remember loving our Jumbotron the first few years, but this year it seemed woefully small for some reason.

Liked the sideline reporter, a nice touch.

The student section had the most students I had ever seen at a game and they really did need the areas from the endzone to the 10. Course over half left at halftime, but it was nice in the first half.

New student section and sideline "reporter" were nice additons. Everything else though was either the same or worse than last year, the announcer and the infamous "song" topping the list.
