Am I Wrong? I thought We won.

Postby MiMiguys » Sun Sep 07, 2008 11:21 am

WOW!! I could not be at the last 2 games due to bad health, but my gang was and called me. Thank goodness to the "Ticket", I could at least hear the game. As a family member of these players I personally was excited that finally after a long haul of losing games that WE WON. With all the nik-picking going on, It gave me an impression that this game was not what mattered. When was the last time that there were 20,000 plus at a game at Ford? Okay, You want kids stay away. Hum, So the future for young football players and families may be discouraged. I have 3 more Grandsons that are young and they play football. 6 years from now will they play for SMU? Most of you know that 2 of my Grandsons are Mustangs. Will there be 5?
If I was at the game I would agree against the "Pony-UP" and for the Fight theme. The PA system and a few other things. Hopefully I will be there for next home game. Having a radio at the game and listening to the "Ticket" has always been more exciting. Truely that is a shame that PA Announcer is not as interesting as our Radio Guys.
I don't want the players and families being discouraged after winning their first game at Ford. Many do read "Ponyfans". I still say it is the Best on the web. We may all disagree, but I would like to see more postive things said. I thought we wanted more fans!!
By the way, Have not heard from "Big Daddy" in months. Hope his not sick or anything. He does live up things. ha

According to the Texas State Football official web site, we did not win...

I will say one thing for Texas State-they never gave up-that Coach got 60 minutes of football from his team. If they hadn't given the game away in the first half they might have won.

A win is a win but win your efense gives up that many points to a FBS and cant finish the game strong, there is much concern for tech.

we have equalled our total of wins from last year, heres to hoping we can get one more win later down the road

One game at a time. I'm thrilled that the guys won last night. They should enjoy it, and so should we. It's the beauty of the "no expectation" mentality. Week to week, you go watch the game and hope for improvement each week. If you win, you are happy. If you lose, you are disappointed. But there is no way I am going to bash these coaches or these players. It has only been 2 games. Geez!

I agree Stallion. The first quarter was some of the worst Bobcat football I have ever seen and that set the tone for our entire game. Had we played in the first half like we played in the second half it might have been a different game. We still however didn't play defense in either half which is a real problem. Had we played defense at all it might have been a different outcome as well.
Having said all of that we all had a great time last night. It's always good to be loud and have fun at a big game against a bigger program and you guys have the best college stadium I have ever been in. Love Ford.
I hope we at least surprised some of you with our enthusiasm and ability to make a hell of a lot of noise and just have a good time no matter what. Hopefully we will be able to do it again. Next year we will be back in the area to play the Frogs. Can't wait for that.

It turns out, in most ways (not counting the only one that matters) we didn't.

The ESPN "Team Stat Comparison" http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=282502567 of us playing a I-AA team was not comforting.

Without their turnovers, we lose... or so close as to not matter.

We saw some improvement last night - but I sure hope we continue to "come together as a team" on a MUCH faster schedule.
pffffffffffft - I see the ScrewUp Fairy has visited us again.

And without our aggressive defense we don't cause the turnovers. I hate that stupid excuse. We won the game. Allow yourself to enjoy that.

Yea, I was there with my family until the end of the game - then went out on the field with the kids afterwards. Then, I sat with it for most of today... Don't think I didn't enjoy the win, but I keep sticking with us keeping a team in the game that shouldn't have been able to play with us. It's not like beating up on a todler  ... but you start to catch my meaning.

Now, don't confuse me with the "doom and gloom - woe is me/us" crowd - hell, I'm going out to the Tech game to watch our guys try to take it to 'em... and I have been watching/listening to every game since I got here in '92, I went in to every one of those games convinced we could win if we executed...

...which brings me back to my final original point - I hope we continue to improve and come together... only faster.
