Did SHSU draw well at Ford? I missed that one. SHSU is the biggest commuter school of the three (SH, SFA and TSU) and draws from the Houston area. SFA is also a big Houston area feeder. I suspect that TX State draws more evenly from Houston and Dallas with a large contingent from San Antonio and Austin.
SFA draws better from Big D and there will probably be more of their fans/students/alumni at the SMU v SFA game next year than TSU had yesterday. SHSU did not draw well at Ford and, yes, is the biggest commuter school of the three. It is also the fastest growing state university in Texas. TSU draws well from the 4 metro areas that you mentioned.

All of our fans I saw last night had a great time. I don't know how many people I heard say....wish we had a stadium like this. Glad we surprised some of you as far as our size and decibel level.
Wish we wouldn't have turned the ball over quite as much and been able to play a more even game in the first half as we did the second half. Wish us luck next year against the Frogs.

The Tx State fans around me were great. Learned a lot about the last few years of the program from the folks behind me. Very nice fans, very well-behaved. Good football-watching people.

I would have to agree, I was on the 50 on the visitors side and while they were passionate about their team they could take us ribbing them. I wish more teams fans were like that.

We had a GREAT time in Dallas yesterday. Everything was top-notch: awesome tailgating (special thanks to Special Delivery for the timely adult beverages), good stadium experience, and friendly opposing fans. I'm sure it's not much competition but the SMU gameday experience blew Baylor from 07 out of the water.

I was told a couple of times by some Pony fans that the Boulevard would have more people at it than the game itself, and that looked to be the case. In all fairness, I couldn't blame anyone for leaving. It's a shame your conference is spread so far apart because I'm sure a lot of CUSA fans are missing out. I was told that SMU's president came from Ole Miss and that Bishop is a Texan slant on the Grove. Well, it works. By the way, every day should be little white sundress day.

For our next D-1 tailgate we get to hit up Frog Alley, which I've been to before and is a lot of fun. But the Boulevard will be awfully tough to top.

Thanks guys.

Why did our student section wear white????

I heard the fresman thought that was TSU's students....
wearing white as to support the "visiting team" and YELLING while we were inside our 20 trying to score!

Does the Daily Campus need to publish a little "football 101" for the sutdents???

I'm greatful they had a awesome turnout, and showed lots of support!! But, in the beginning of the game, out team thought they were supporting Texas State.

Hey..at least they participated and showed some school spirit by doing whatever was promoted to them

Maybe we need flash cue cards on the jumbotron at crticial times...
Cheer...make some noise.....SHHHHH( we're trying to score)

Great turnout.....hope to see that number increase weekly

I'll take them cheering whenever they are willing. "Shhh" is not something our fans usually need to be told. I fully intend to annoy the heck out of the people sitting around us by yelling loud all season long.

Maybe we could arrange a football clinic for our students, though. Not a bad idea.

Yesterdays game was a "white out" game.

Who was SMU trying to 'white out' and why since that is not one of the Mustangs' colors? :?

They mentioned the "white out" idea at the Rice game watching party in front of Dallas Hall. Because I didn't hear much more about that idea, I was sceptical that the whole fan base would wear white. However, most of the students did and my son and I did as well. Pony Up!

So the girls had an opportunity to wear too short, see-through shirts, I mean dresses? Great eye candy for you guys, but not so great for those of us with daughters that we hope won't grow up to be strippers or dress like them.

Because the "June Cometh" and Pony Up shirts are white.

Didn't they used to do that during freshman orientation? Granted it's been a while since I was a freshman, but I remember the band and cheerleaders teaching us the cheers.

They did it my freshman year, but that was about 15 years ago. They filed us all into Ownby and went through everything. They also handed out cow bells to all of us. I don't know if they still do the orientation, but they should. Of course the cheerleaders actually led cheers then too. There were signs that said "red" and "blue". There were guys with megaphones that led cheers. What happened????
