I'm very concerned about the talk of Massey visiting UT. Does anyone have a feel for how likely he is to get a scholarship offer from the Horns?

....according to Rivals he's probably the next RB on their list if they decide to take one. UT has only recruited 3 RBs this year and all are 4 or 5 stars including Hardeman who they committed, and Reggie Bush(5 star) and Lendale White(4 star) who both committed to USC yesterday. The ONLY other RB that lists interest in Texas in the entire Rivals Database is Massey as of two days ago.

Looking at the UT board they seem to think that they have him in the bag. So long Richuel. We hardly knew ye.

Is there any reason given for their confidence? Or is it typical Orange arrogance, wherein they think everyone should for some reason want to go there? There's a lot to be said for a guy who wants to play. Massey might well sit for 3 years in Austin - not that he's not talented, but they are extremely deep at RB. Hopefully Coach Bennett won't let him go without a fight.

Yes- UT was probably his first choice and he committed to SMU after they lost interest in him and focused almost exclusively on these 4 and 5 star national recruits. He is quoted as saying in Rivals a few days ago that he was still committed to SMU but that he was visiting UT on Jan 10 and if that offered he would have to think long and hard about what is best for him.

Think playing time, Richuel! You'll do well wherever you go. But do you want to be a junior when you get your first carry?

Does anyone know how many scholarships UT has left to offer?
What are their other priorities with their remaining 'ships?
Word is they're going hard after Tyrell Gatewood. I'd rather send Gatewood to UT and keep Massey in the Ponies' stable.

BTW the article on Rivals on TheUniversity.Com in a second interview on Monday said that when he questioned Mac Brown about of the runningbacks UT has Brown asked him to come on down to "see if there was room for Massey and maybe some ARRANGEMENTS might be made for him" Its speculation but I wonder if Brown going to try to get him to be a preferred walkon to the team he has followed "since he was 8 years old". Massey went on to say how Bennett has been good to him and that he is still a Mustang Commitment" at least for now. The speculation is that UT might use him for a FB or even as a LB or SS because of his strength. He confirmed SMU was considering him as a RB but did not object to a move to FB necessarily although he said he thought he was too small.

He may think he's too small, but he has more than enough power. He's a champion power lifter, having benched 450 and he can squat 800. There are a lot of linemen who can't even dream of numbers like that. This kid is a man among boys.

Let's hope a free SMU degree is worth more to Massey than a walk-on at UT. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

As much as I hate to hear that one of our recruits might consider another offer, it sure is a sign that our recruiting is light years ahead of where it used to be. Having a recruit deciding between us and Texas is not necessarily a bad thing IMHO.

I wish Richuel the best and hope he will make the right decision and play in Dallas.

Stallion says he's being talked into playing FB at Texas? This guy's too talented running the ball to be a blocker 90 percent of the time. Dude needs to be toting the pumpkin. He could put up big TD numbers at SMU.

It essentially means nothing, however, if we can't win these recruiting wars. I want to see Richuel in a Mustang uniform, period.
