SMU has atheletes. They have 3-star atheletes on the side lines.
Who?
Deyon McElroy and Alex Odiari both had a few stars and arent playing much. McElroy didnt play against Texas State, and according to the participation chart on Tech's website, Odiari dint play tonight.

Bennie Thomas? His bio says he was highly recruited, but he isnt getting alot of playing time. 1 tackle this year.

Not sure if that's what Sunshine meant, but it's something that crosses my mind occasionally.

TOM MASON WAS A HORRIBLE CHOICE AT DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR!!!!!

The guy doesn't make adjustments. The guy doesn't seem to be paying attention to keys during the game, he doesn't shirt the defense based on audibles.

Oh did I mention Tom Mason sucks??

Well he is a HORRIBLE Defensive Coordinator! I fully expected Tech to score 80.

Gee...wonder why they didn't?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

The players could make Mason look better if, THEY WOULD WRAP UP!

He had some awfully good defenses at Fresno State, and he inherited less talent here - yet you're ready to dump him after three games. Coach Jones said the defense is visibly better each week of this young season, and his track record suggests he knows a hell of a lot more about all aspects of football than any of us. Hold off judgement.

PonyDoh you must don't know much about football so i'll try and enlighten you to what McCann has done in his two years.

Last Year: To begin with, most teams game plan away from him, that's evident based on the amount of passes thrown his way. However, he still lead the team in int's last year.

This year: He has esentially shut his side of the field down.
Rice game: 1st qtr He played Dilliard so aggressive Dilliard couldn't get off the line of scrimmage most plays, Rice had to move Dilliard to the other side of the field to get the ball to him. McCann played mostly man throughout the game with no safety help. (that's making plays by shutting down his side of the field)

Texas State: He had four passes thrown his way the whole game. THAT'S SHUTTING DOWN HIS SIDE OF THE FIELD.

Texas Tech: 1st qtr: McCann was man up with no safety help and Tech tried to exploit it with 6 passes McCann's way in the first two series and they didn't connect one time. Yes, there was an opportunity to get an int when a pass hit him in the back, but I asked him about that and he said because he had his back to the qb the whole play he didn't want to risk turning around and losing the ball in the air and the receiver making the play so he played the receiver instead and not the ball. Rest of game Tech essentially went away from McCann. Several times during the game Harrell looked McCann's way (since he was usually manned up) and had to dump off to outlet pass out the backfield. Tech not once lined Crabtree against McCann. They moved Crabtree all over that field except to McCann's side. (he lined up in slot, went in motion, lined up over Bell, but not once over McCann)

In three games McCann has had three TD's thrown on him. Two of which were meaningless TD's towards end of game. He doesn't have one catch thrown over the top on him. Every catch made is made in front of him. One TD was do to a missed tackle, One TD a slant 5 yards from the goal in Rice game, and the last TD a fade caught on him agains TECH.

So PonyDoh what type of plays would you have McCann to start making? Since he hasn't done anything in two years.

McCann does not look back when shadowing his recievers, which is going ot result in more pass interference calls. Crabtree blew by him and Dennis. Missed assignment or something.

Rock has blown a lot of assignments in the first three games. Lets hope he continues to shake off the rust of not playing for almost two years, plus, this is his first year in D1.

If he'd play twice as hard we'd be alright on defense.
