Craig Swann's head basically almost exploded.

Because he thought his brand new corner coming off an injury might have had an interception or the pass was incomplete......I'm not sure I'd want to play for a coach that mails it in. I like my coaches to coach the WHOLE game. Even coach the backups.

Interesting take. So, if I am reading it correctly, you would like to play for a coach that keeps going for the jugular, no matter what the score is.

Go play for Jack Pardee.

That's the same mindset as Steve Spurrier, Les Miles, Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Stoops.....

I'd rather have that coach that coaches 100% instead of a classy guy that plays politics. SMU's had Bennett and Gregg and Rossely and it got the Ponies no where.....the one guy that hasn't said anything about this is Jones. Perhaps that's because he's been just as guilty of running it up in the past himself.

Actuallly, the most satisfying part of that game last night was watching us make that last stand and not allow tech to cover the spread. Small victories...and it was funny seeing all the gamblers lose it when we held.

I have no doubt he ran another play to try and cover the spread. This was discussed on talk radio quite a bit this week, how its taboo, but exists. Basically, the jist was "any coach who says he doesn't know the spread is lying, all coaches realize their big boosters also bet on the games and they want to cover the spread"

I had no problem with it, besides, it was satisfying to keep them out at the end, especially since I had some coin on SMU [/quote]

If that were the case, we would have opted for the FG.

And i would agree with a few posters above...this is Mike Leach we are dealing with here. This is just the way he does things and thats not going to change anytime soon until his liver gives out. It didnt even bother me that he was trying to cover the spread because you expect that behavior from him. Once you expect something time and time again, kinda hard to get upset about it.

A FG would have been too blatantly obvious and opened him up to even more betting scrutiny....trying to punch in a meaningless TD when you don't have to take another snap, not as obvious....

That last TD Tech was trying to score meant about as much as the TD SMU scored w/ 3:29 left. If SMU isn't going to run out the clock, why should Tech? BTW, if Leach was classless, he would have burned his final time out for one more play & tried once more. Or he wouldn't have run a sweep play that hasn't worked for us all year.

Your team lost, deal with it and quit crying about it. You will never get better complainging about the other team. Fix your problems and improve.

Good Point-I didn't see SMU running the Clock. I saw them throwing the ball around the field. If we got the ball back-I'm sure we would have thrown it some more. Tech ran two straight running plays-its football. Its not really that hard to stop a running play in that situation. We stopped 'em. Good for us.

Leach is a classless [deleted]. You now understand why - after all his success at TT - he still is at that school in the middle of nowhere.

Top programs find something unsettling about Leach and his persistent running up of the score is but one indicator of a man who is not to be trusted with an established program.

I've seen Stoops take a knee and run nothing but dive plays. Anyone remember the 77-0 A&M thrashing. I don't think he threw the ball in the second half.

Same with Mack Brown. He gets well ahead and then calls off the dogs.

I would dearly like to get good enough to beat Leach at Lubbock.

Stoops doesn't play that game. He goes full throttle for a half, maybe three quarters, but significantly pulls off the gas in the fourth. Look at the 77-0 win over A&M. No points in the fourth. OU was up 49-7 at the half against UH about three years ago and won 63-14. I respect Stoops and OU. His program may not be above reproach (Big Red Autos!) but he runs the games with class, unlike Leach or John Jenkins, who are cut from the same cloth.

That's ridiculous. Our guys deserved not to get shutout and I'm really glad they could score that TD. SMU didn't run out the clock because SMU was losing by some god-awful amount. Tech should have run out the clock instead of trying to score another TD (and using a timeout with 70 seconds left up by 36). Kneel on the damn ball. Run out the clock. Tech gains nothing by scoring another TD at the end of that game. You cannot justify trying to score again in that situation. It cannot be done.

If I'm going to cry because we lost, it sure isn't going to be because some classless Tech pirate-wannabe tried to get in one last punch. My complaints and thoughts hold no bearing on SMU's ability to become a better football team or fix its problems. I don't hold meetings with June to discuss that weekend's game.

Maybe he'll stop acting like an @sshole when Harrell or Crabtree blows out a knee when Tech's up 40 and he loses one of them for the season. One of these games, they'll run up against a DE or LB that has just as little class and Harrell will get blindsided after a play. I for one was hoping that Harrell would get his head knocked off in the 4th quarter or that someone would accidentally run over Leach on the sidelines. The timeouts at the end were completely indefensible, even with the stupid "then try to stop us" argument. To me it was like he was holding up a giant middle finger to JJ.

Speaking of Leach and the sidelines, did anyone else notice that he was absent during a big portion of the end of the game? The TV camera kept showing other shots of the sideline and the coaches, but Leach was absent for a bit. We figured he had gone to the bar in his office and was refreshing his drink.
