Biggest Day in SMU Football Recent History

Postby MustangKurt20 » Mon Jan 13, 2003 1:59 am

Gentlemen, what amazing day this is for SMU fans. I'm completely blown away by Coach Bennett's ability to recruit. Absolutely amazing. Is there a more amazing team in recruiting this year in recruiting than SMU considering the circumstances?

so are you saying Armstrong and Martin actually committed or they had a good time and are leaning to SMU and hopefully commit this week? And did anybody quote these kids as saying SMU is "tight"? Isn't this Rush Nite? Instead of "Pig Run" I guess we got a "Mustang Stampede"!!!! Or maybe a "Grand Slam" for 4 commits in one day.

Lol...if we can pick up both Martin and Armstrong, that will give us 10..yes count them..TEN 3-star recruits. We will definitely finish a Top 30s recruiting class if that is the case. That's more talent than we've had in the past 6 or 7 years combined. Go Bennett! GO MUSTANGS!

No if we pick up Martin and Armstrong that would give us 12 3 star recruits-let's finish this thing off with Berryman, Derricks etc.

No but these are some real quality 2 star recruits who might even be upgraded. Ellis has offers from Bay, UH, Iowa St, SMU and TCU while Bates has offers from Col, TCU, SMU and ULL.

I'm happy with the apparent recruiting progress.

Still and all, we will know SMU has turned a corner when there are extensive reports that the negative recruiting at other schools is along the lines that, "You don't have a chance to play at SMU because they have too many good players!"

I've been to UCF many times in my life...I can tell you that UCF cannot compare to SMU. They play in the citrus bowl, home of the Capital One Bowl now. It is about 10 mins away from campus. They don't have the greatest facilities...and the campus is huge and ugly. It's a typical Florida state school. He'll pick SMU ImageThe MAC isn't a huge jump over the WAC anyhow. Go Mustangs!

We have 20 commits...but I'm pretty sure one or two of those guys are either partial or invited walkons. We have 24 to give supposedly.

I've seen everywhere from 23-25 listed as the number we'll give.

Who are you hearing as a partial (soft) commit, or as an invited walk-on? If we can get more guys, I'm all for it!
