We brought in a big time coach who is getting paid big bucks to make decisions. Our job is to let him make those decisions based on his experience and judgment. Our job is to quit second guessing everything, be supportive and be patient. Yes, we were all hoping for a duplication of his initial success at Hawaii; however, it is not going to happen in this program at this time. It may take as many as 4 years before we are truly competitive. We finally have the support of the President, administration, AD plus a goal and vision/game plan and only time will afford us the opportunity to gain the strength, maturity, experience, leadership and recruiting necessary to make the strides we all seek. Relax and be patient it will happen.

You are kidding, right? Our job is to quit second-guessing everything, yadda yadda yadda badda bing.... This is a fan forum, dude. C'mon, you know that we are pathological. What would we talk about?
Seriously, though, that's a tough sell. Some criticisms can be calmly levelled at Jones, and they ought to be because he's being paid $2mm per year to coach. (I concede that my argument loses ground since I'm not the guy paying the coin to him....). I stick with my comments earlier. It's premature to burn him in effigy. However, that said, I am not going to be patient to the tune of not expecting significant improvement (i.e. a winning season and bowl game) this year. In CUSA, notwithstanding the recent success of Tulsa and ECU, it is possible for SMU to at least make a run at it. If that's armchair QB-ing, then that's just tough. Coach Jones is a big boy; he can handle the criticism.
And it's complete bullsh-t to suggest we have to wait 4 years for major improvement. He's got a five year contract, and he's made it clear that he's done after that, right?. Screw 4 years, dude. My patience is at an end.

Hawaii fans didn't have to relax and be patient. Winless to 9-4 and a bowl game win....and JJ has said many times that he has more talent at the skill positions here than he did during his first year in Hawaii.
Don't tell us to be patient......I've been patient for 22 years in football and 17 years in basketball. The being patient days are over.

Dammit. You've been on the board only a month longer than me, and you're already at Hall of Famer.
There's got to be a handicap for time on board. C'mon webguys, show me a little love, will you? I feel like a teenager for having less posts than some guys (General, are you listening??) who are on for a couple of years, post the hell out of stuff, and get better status.
I don't b-tch and moan much about this kind of stuff, but c'mon ppride...smoo...webmaster...help a fellow oldtimer out, would you? Please? I feel like Cartman.

It's all about quality over quantity, OC.

I still don't feel better about it. Thx, though.
