Are you done yet?Anyone else about ready to throw in the towel -- this time, for good?
Top to bottom, on the field and off, SMU has shown it cannot compete. NOT EVEN CLOSE. NOWHERE NEAR IT. For 20 full years now. They couldn't even get the halftime, give-us-your-money presentation, right. The fireworks blew off IN FRONT OF the video presentation obscuring it from the crowd. Aren't RGT and GJF embarrassed enough by now? This was a truly textbook uninspired performance in front of a packed house. How do you go out in front of a big house like that and NOT EVEN COMPETE? Even Tom Rossley's crappy teams SHOWED UP and COMPETED for goodness sake. We did not compete tonight. NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Sounds like "newshound" hit a bar after the game.
Me, I drove four and a half hours home. I don't like the outcome of tonight's game, but giving up football is not an option, and if it was one, it would be idiotic. We made a national-news hire in Coach Jones, and he's not costing the university a dime. He got drilled at the beginning at Hawaii, too. But he is making progress. A lot of progress. Tonight's game sucked, but even with tonight's score, the difference between the team that went to Rice and the team that got beaten tonight is considerable. Even without paying JJ out of the budget, the university has a lot invested in football, and thankfully, the higher-ups like Steve-O and RGT understand that adjusting to a new staff is a process, not an instantaneous change.

You're part of the league of morons
Re: Are you done yet?
Did You say Your A Fan?? I never walk out on a game and I never say Quit. I sure hope Players families know that people like you that condem a new program and new players is a NUT Case. Your idea of not having FOOTBALL shows everything about you. Buddy, We are just starting and We aren't ever going to be done as you say.
I'm with Stallion on this one. By the time we made it to the bitter end last night, Stallion and some folks from Special D, were just about the only people left in the whole section. We sit on the bottom rows of the section, and Stallion on the top, I turned around and yelled at Stallion "hey.we have the whole section to ourselves"
And you stayed to the end why?
This person will most likely reappear when we get good and act as if he is a "long suffering SMU fan" who has been here the whole time.
Because that's what fans do. I stayed until the end. I didn't bail out on this program like so many on this aboard appeared to do. Regardless, you go and you stay until the end. Congratulations to those of us who were there for all 60 minutes. And that's not directed at you Mr. Pony. It's really for the author of this thread.
Progress sometimes is in very small increments. We were soundly beaten by a very good team. Do not be surprised if TCU either beats or gives OU a real scare. Yes, it was tough to watch the game on TV to the bitter end as I did; but I did watch and have not given up. At some point in the next 3 weeks some things are going to start meshing and everyone will have a better feeling about what is happening. I have tickets for the Navy game which is 300 miles from where I live and I would not think of missing the game for any reason. As I have posted before: patience, patience and more patience as this is a process that will take time.
We've got a group of 4 making the Annapolis trip - look forward to tailgating with some wayward Mustang fans and hopefully playing a competitive game that day
Contact me privately if you can and we will link up. I tried to send you a private email, from this site, and it did not go through. Not sure what I did wrong.
Fan apathy at the games is horrible. Last night I was in sec. 125 (way too damn many purple shirts there) and there were a few Pony fans around me. None of them cheered or supported the team in any way other than by being there. I believe I was the only person who yelled or offered any words of encouragement in that section. I saw some of them leave early 3Q and most all of them were gone before 4Q. How pathetic. Our team is a joke at the moment but they still need our support.
I would also like to comment on the sportmanship of the TCU fans. I received no heckling or nasty comments. They were all very classy and were very vocal in supporting their team. Lessons to be learned. GO PONIES!!!
TV shots at the start of the 4th quarter clearly showed the stadium had really emptied out. Too bad. Team needs support when they are down as well as when things are good. True fans swallow hard and stay true.
I left in the middle of the 3rd quarter when TCU posted its 34 pouint. We looked like we were going through the motions. I saw no fire. The attitude of the team seemed to be we expect to lose this game so why play hard. . I am going to Florida and Maryland for those games. I sure hope we show up and find some reason to really play the games instead of mailing it in. Right now the only change I see from last year to this year is the cost of the head coach. PB made 800,000 and JJ is is 1.8 M.
From my prospective we are looking at another 1-11 season. At least last year we looked more competitive and lost many of our games by a touchdown or less. At the rate we are going and the way we look we won't even make it interesting. This team looks unispired. Don't get me wrong I expected to see more losses that wins but I expected the team to be competitive. It isn't. Both JJ and the SO said there was talent on this team. So far I havn't see it.
