I sure hope Players families know that people like you that condem a new program and new players is a NUT Case. Your idea of not having FOOTBALL shows everything about you. Buddy, We are just starting and We aren't ever going to be done as you say.
Well said, MiMiguys. I'm with you and Stallion and ALEX LIFESON and the rest of the real PonyFans. Losing is frustrating, but what the guys are doing now is like trying to speak a new language in another country for the first time. They know a lot of the parts, but they're not fluent. Yet. They will be, and it will be fun to watch.
Of course, at that time, "newsmutt" and people of his ilk will assure us that they never lost faith, they knew all along, they believed in June Jones, etc.

Top to bottom, on the field and off, SMU has shown it cannot compete. NOT EVEN CLOSE. NOWHERE NEAR IT.
For 20 full years now.
They couldn't even get the halftime, give-us-your-money presentation, right. The fireworks blew off IN FRONT OF the video presentation obscuring it from the crowd.
Aren't RGT and GJF embarrassed enough by now?
This was a truly textbook uninspired performance in front of a packed house. How do you go out in front of a big house like that and NOT EVEN COMPETE? Even Tom Rossley's crappy teams SHOWED UP and COMPETED for goodness sake. We did not compete tonight. NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Bottom line is WE DON'T NEED FOOTBALL. We can raise several hundred million dollars withoout it. So, why not just DROP IT? Save us the trouble already.
We have been sold a bill of goods here. Really, we have. Enough already.
You're part of the league of morons
STL, Why do the morons only get a league? The champions got a circle!! I think morons deserve a circle, too.
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!

Gentlemen, we need to get back to fundamentals. That said, regarding the title of this thread...

newshound cares enough about SMU to attend (at least) one of its football games. He also posts on this board.
That makes him a fan, maybe not a die-hard like others on this board, but a fan nonetheless.
Instead of calling him a moron, I would call him frustrated....and for that I cannot blame him.
I also believe things will get much better here, but I am more excited about BB than FB.

Your attitude about this makes you an idiot too! A fan enjoys all aspects of their school. BB is 2 months away. In the meantime, why don't you support the other athletes that make up the great school that SMU is?

Frustrated? Yes. Ready to throw in the towel? Hell no. I agree with Stallion that as frustrating as it is to watch, I am not about to turn tail now that we've taken steps to becoming relevant again.
But even though I am not going to back down my support for this program, it does not mean I do not have an opinion about how things are going this year. Mitchell should stand and watch a full game from the sideline with JJ. Let JW give it a shot and have BLM watch a live game with no worry of having to play. Even if Bo is the QB of the future, throwing him to the wolves like this so early could very well have incurable ramifications on his psyche.
And the defense... Where to begin. At least the tackling was a little better last night (guys were grabbing cloth where they had been trying to tackle with a shoulder in previous games), but I was often we were out of position in coverage underneath. I did think there were some bright spots. E.g., I like Bell's play generally, especially his baiting of the QB on the out route in the end zone at the beginning of the game, breaking quickly to the ball--drop notwithstanding.
I am most worried about what seems to be a lack of fire. Some of the guys are showing it, but it seems like there is a leadership void.
I hate the idea of treating this season like an extended spring, but I am willing to ride it out and let JJ prove to us that he is worth the money the Circle came up with to bring him here.
