To BEGIN each game? The "we'll get there after this cocktail" crowd wandered in late. Lots of them.

Stallion wrote:OK folks Justin Willis will never be an effective receiver. Where do you guys come up with this BS. He was moved because he will never play QB and is a distraction because everybody that is not a moron knows he is the better QB.

That is a great observation stallion. I think most of us understand that JJ will never play JWill at any position. How did it get to this point? It had nothing to do with grades. JJ lied! JWill will graduate in June 09. JJ lied about the QB competition. JJ lied about the revelation he had after his car crash. He stated that he was going to do everything he could to improve the lives of young people, liar! JJ has his staff doing class checks on JWill when he has no intention on playing JWill at any position. Whats up with that?

JWill will play any postion if it will help the team win. Even those of you who do not like him knows he should be on the field in some capacity.

JJ has lied so much about the extent of what is really going on that if he plays JWill and he makes a play JJ will look like an [deleted]. It is amazing to me that he is unwilling to eat a little crow to possibly try and win some games or at least compete.

Thank those of you who supported jWill during his record breaking two seasons. And for those who did not support him thank you as well. Life is full of highs and lows. JWill has grown through this process and will be stronger in the end.

There is something going on here that is just plain wrong. Now there are two if not more HS coaches that SMU will not get to recruit players from. Our recruiting is bad enough without eliminating HS in Texas.

Not to make too many LSU references, but LSU has a true-freshman (Jordan Jefferson) who from all accounts is the real deal at QB, but Les Miles knows that HE IS A TRUE FRESHMAN and IS NOT READY YET, so he has kept him on the sidelines to learn and opted to go with more experience at qb, even though there is less raw talent there.

Completely different situation. LSU basically has nothing but freshmen QBs on roster (Hatch is a sophomore, but for all intents and purposes is a freshmen). Miles doesn't even have the option of starting an experienced QB. What makes this situation different is that Miles has a STOUT defense, a Heisman caliber RB in Scott, and a WR corp that any coach would drool over.

Also, this directed more at the general thread and not your specific post, but what I love is that people here actually think we would be winning with JW at QB. Granted, he is no doubt the better QB AT THIS TIME. However, our defense is abysmal and our running game isn't that great. So far from what I've seen, we'd still be 1-3. The problem is that most people here are ridiculously short sighted and are constantly looking for something to blame. If you want to blame something, blame the SMU model that has produced recruits over the last 4 years that are contributing to this horrible, horrible defense. I, for one, am still completely behind JJ's decision to start BLM. If repetitions and accuracy is what a QB needs to master this offense, and we're going to be terrible anyway, we might as well start the kid that is going to be the guy of the future....

Can we get a ban for slandering the head coach's personal life?

The comments made on this board about JWills personal life, and you should ban me? Everybody should be banned if slander is the issue. I am just stating facts about what has taken place. JWill has moved on from the QB situation. He is not bitter, he wants to get better, doing what he can to help this team win. How many of you would not play him somewhere. Face it people, we are bad and JWill is good. Put him on the field?

All of this is fine but JJ still mislead us all. If you're only building for the future and throwing this season away just tell us.

We all know it would be tough to win many games regardless of the QB but that is no reason for the coach/team to tank this season(which is what JJ did by making JW 4th string).

Don't tell us you're going to play the best possible QB/players you have on the roster. It is painfully clear to everyone who watches BLM score touchdowns for our opponents that he is not the best QB on the roster.

I don't agree with the decision to throw the season and get the fresh. QB experience. However, JJ makes the decisions and if that is what he thinks is best I will trust him.

Just tell the fans, were going to build for the future and get this freshman ready for the years to come.

You're accusing the SMU fans on here of being short sighted, really? We haven't won anything in over 20 years. If the true core fans on here were short sighted they would have been gone long ago. I would not classify Stallion, Hoop Fan or Pony_Fan as short sighted. Like me, they can see we ARE NOT playing our best QB. So we are supposed to sit back and accept getting our brains beaten in just to get a true freshman some experience?? And it would be different if we saw signs of potential in Bo, but I’m sorry, I haven’t. Watch Baylor. They are playing a true freshman and he absolutely makes mistakes.....but at least one play a series he will do something that makes you say “wow, we’ve got a player hereâ€

Relax !

Postby SMUBaller » Mon Sep 22, 2008 12:24 pm

Let's all relax a little here. We have a well respected legimate Div 1 coach. The idea is to build a program so that in 3 years you can expect SMU to be competitive with the likes of TCU and Tech. Man just give the guy ( JJ ) a chance to build a program. As hard as it to accept after so many years of frustation, getting the young kids experience will make SMU better down the road.

Don't give up just yet as we are now playing Confernce USA teams not Top 25 team like Tech and TCU.

A win at Tulane sure would make us all feel better about the direction of the team but win or lose you gotta believe !

glad to see you back on the board bigdaddy. the only true problem i think why JW isnt playing QB is because he really isnt a Run N Shoot system QB. JW has never and will never have the patience to stay in the pocket

Sounds like he cares about this kid getting an education. Horrible trait for a coach.

What lie did he tell Willis? If he told him he was the starter, granted that was a lie. I don't believe he told Willis that, do you?
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
