I doubt the cup costs $0.40. It's much flimsier than typical plastic stadium cups. I'm currently drinking out of my 2002-03 SMU Rec Sports & Spirit cup. That's real plastic.
SMU has the highest prices of any stadium. UH's were more last year and are just under SMU's. $4 for popcorn and $4 for soda. $7 for BEER.
If we sold beer, we could charge less for the Cokes and water.

If we sold Punch or "Kool-Aid", there wouldn't be a need for cokes and water. BTW, does anyone know how I can get ahold of that Oscar fella?
"Why don't we sell beer? Is it a Baptist thing at a Methodist University?"
I doubt it since 99% of all college football games don't allow beer sold inside the stadium
I think only a tiny fraction allow beer sales at games like Tulane, Univ Southern Florida, UNLV, maybe Temple and some other schools that play in NFL stadiums. Most don't allow beer sold in the stadium.

Doesn't the University of Houston allow beer sales at Robertson Stadium, too?
UH allows beer sales at Robertson and used to sell it at the Dome.
Insurance is higher but the revenues more than offset that.
So, Tulane is the only known private school to allow beer sales and only USF in the BCS category. Like the lottery, it's a money maker but not without issues.
