Or the last 20 years of football, depending on how much a fan you really are.

I think a lot of people are disapponited because they thought Jones would at least get the players to realize they are D-1 players and compete and maybe win a game we weren't suppose to win. I tried to warn them. I had no expectations, so I am not disappointed.

How's that "having a shot" again?

maybe some didn't expect to see QB performance that ranks with the worst Jones has seen in 35 years (referencing the "never seen a shuttle pass/screen pass intercepted in 35 years). Ditto the bursting through the A gap on a punt.
I will not make age an issue in this campaign. I'm not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience.

General, you may want to change your avatar with all this rah rah optimism. Afterall, if this was war, and Patton was leading SMU, he would be slapping people around and not putting up with what is going on here!! Either that, are he would have already surrendered!!

I'm a die-hard New York Mets fan so cheering for the ponies year after year is second nature to me. It will just make that year that we finally do get to a bowl that much sweeter.

We did have a shot at Rice and we lost. We haven't won at Rice since the DP so I don't think anyone should have been counting that one as in the bag. Going into the game we were underdogs (line was 6 points maybe) and we lost. Based on lines we won the game we were supposed to and lost the 3 we were supposed to.

I'm baffled by the people who say we are making progress. Really? Where? We have the worst quarterback in the country, the worst defense in the country, we drop or can't come up with big turnovers, and we're shooting ourselves in the foot with dumb turnovers. I don't know about you but the team I saw against Rice is the exact same team I saw against TCU. Terrible. Just terrible. There has been ZERO improvement on this team.

Personally I think the D is improving. Holding Texas Tech to 43 points when their offense was given 5 gift turnovers is impressive to me. Consider that the D held Tech to 22 points in the first half despite the fantastic field position they got from all the INTs.

The offensive line has been much better than I expected. BLM has gotten worse since the Rice game though and as a result so has the offense.

We still suck, but I think you are crazy if you think the D has shown no improvement since the Rice game.

points of improvement: O-Line, defense at times, corners.

points of concern: everything else except punter.

We had a shot. The point is that just about no one who knew what they were talking about picked us to win at Rice.

This must be the most pathetic week of posts on this board. Grow up!

My god, folks! If you cowards are bailing out and whining after four games because many of you thought this was going to be Hawaii II, then you deserve what you get.

This entitlement mentality is crap! When RE-BUILDING a football program, it isn't going to happen with the snap of a finger. This whole program is being completely turned over and turned inside and out.

Now, that may come as a shock to some of you but this reality. You better saddle up and deal with it.

The record won't look pretty this year and I got news for you, it may not look a heck of a lot better next year.

So you guys have a choice. You're either on board with the new regime and are willing to ride it out or you can cut your losses, turn in your tickets and do something else on Saturdays in the fall and save yourself the aggravation.

This is absolute garbage.

Wow, General, if it weren't for cliches, your war would be lost. Let's see, now. "Lift up your skirts," "bailing out," "snap of a finger," "saddle up," "get on board," "ride it out," "cut your losses." Did you take creative writing, or what?
