There were some players cut/suspended/both on Monday. Were any of those scholarship guys? If so, that would free up some more to add to the 3 or 4.

I may be wrong but I think you are only allowed up to 25 a year and 85 total. Any cut players would only allow more room under the 85 total once the 25 annual is met. So today we have around 5 left to give even if everyone currently on scholarship were to go.

Those in the know please correct me if I am in error.

Its not written in stone that our 16 commitments will report in 2009-as we saw this year some could be greyshirts. The point being you can always play with these numbers. You can generally find a way to get in a top recruit.

I agree. I think the 25/85 numbers are correct, but I have never heard a coach anywhere and more specifically at SMU who has said "We could have had that top recruit but we ran out of scholarships".
