Rivals worth it?

Postby SMU2007 » Fri Sep 26, 2008 9:35 am

Is it worth paying the subscription fee for rivals? Or is there a better alternative.

Thanks to anyone who has any good info

ponystampede.com has been a great site thus far. They have slowed down a little lately, but were up to 3 or 4 articles a day for a while. They usually have lots of audio interviews. They also broke the story on Logan Turner's suspension before the Tulane game, I believe, unless I missed it on here first.

Clearly I missed it. What's the story on Turner?

The reason behind Turner's suspension isn't confirmed yet, but several other players were suspended, and at least one guy was booted from the team (he was on the scout team) for missing a practice and being late to another. Dont know if they are related.

How long is this suspension and who else was involved? And did you say MISSED a practice? That ought to get you booted.

Suspension is two games for Turner and someone else I forget at the moment and I'm too lazy to look up on stampede, not sure the reason. Do know others were suspended/booted from the team. Someone from teh scout team was booted for missing practice. Not sure if that is why the other suspensions came down, or if it was unrelated.

The missed practice had to do with the change in schedule b/c of a Thursday game. It was on Sunday.

The new rivals guy has to be better than that other site, which slowed down because they ran out of fifth-string long snappers to profile. Neither site will ever match up to this one, though, so no - it's not worth it, either.

As far as recruiting is concerned, recruiting videos, and interviewing recruits they both do a good job.

It is not healthy to get all your SMU information from Ponyfans-it might lead to terminal cheerleaderism with September regret.

Maybe we could work on scheduling our opener in October. Not only would we bypass September, but we would finally get to play a game in December also.

I recently became a member of Rivals since the new guy got there (Armen) last month. I'm thoroughly impressed with him, actually. PonyFans is great but you can't find as much in depth recruiting as PonyPride.com has. THAT's why you pay for it. For $100 a year? You kidding me? Well worth my money. It's a steal, actually.
