Where is the supposed "improved defense"?
Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought we got 2 potential shutdown CBs in McElroy and Bennie Thomas?
Yet during games they are both sitting in front of me drinking water.
And what about big Evan Huahulu?
Why is he on the bench watching teams runs all over our defensive front?
It seems to me that its time to fix the defense.
Change scheme, change philosophy, change personnel, or change the DC. Or here's an idea, do all of the above?
The CBs are afraid, our safeties don't tackle and out defensive line gives up 80-100 pounds per man.
I have never seen a team outside of Junior High football where the safeties and linebackers run up, then turn and run alongside a WR or RB from the opponent. WOW!
C'mon Mason get a clue!!!!

I can tell you this that Derrius "Baybay" Bell has never been afraid of anyone person on a football field. He has gotten beaten a couple of times but no player will out hustle or has the heart or willingness to play then Derrius. Derrius will get beat a play and then go make a play are you watching the game or are you listening to the commentators?. Now we can be critical because I am but please don't say my son doesn't have defense he's played the game since he was 6 and was a corner at that he knows more then anyone one else when he has screwed up.
I watched games all weekend and I wondered if the fans from each of the losing teams were so critical of their own team or do they get behind them and rally them on to come on let's WIN. We have always come from winning teams and its [deleted] players to lose if they care at all. And for fans that sit like they're at the library its hard to get pumped up for those type of fans. Sorry for all those years of losing but Derrius and many of his team mates wasn't even born yet. Remember these kids chose SMU for the turn around and could have very well gone somewhere else but they believe the hype of the turnaround on the hilltop so please give them the same courtesy. They all want to WIN
and the real football players HATE LOSING as well.
This is coming from his MOM!
And sorry my whole family hates losing but my sons are better then I am when it comes to shaking the haters off. lol
Go Hard or Go Home!
Win or Go Home!
What yo heart beatin for you scared!

What I want to know is when exactly did the Evan Huahulu for the Outland Trophy campaign kick off? Second, what about his high school career or recruiting choices make you think he is ready for Division 1A Football? It mystifies me-other than of course, he's one of Bus' Big Boys. Can we please stop thinking every freshman is the next All-American. Geez Cole "Scooter" Beasley's girlfriend was on here last Thuirsday wanting Beasley to replace Emanuel Sanders. The less we see of these freshman the better off we are. But we've already blown so many redshirts on kids who aren't ready its ridiculous. And they have produced almost nothing.

To RoyBell: It is amazing how Tulane fans got behind their team and we did not. 96% of their fans thought they would win the game, I think it was about 50% of ours. It was closer than either fan base thought it would be. No matter what happens there are going to be "haters" for certain players, just ask Bo Levi.
On the other hand, there are a majority of great fans that stand up to them. Sooner, not later, we will weed out the "haters" with wins.
IMO, Derrius is playing with a lot of guts and heart. He's made some costly mistakes but has also made some game changing plays. This team needs him. Thank God he's a Mustang.

Unfortunately people don't relax because of 20 years of losing. With a few more losses and mixed play from really young players, some are packing and considering the possibility the program won't get better. it will and they'll be a little less venomous.

The board isn't real life. Ignore those who babble. Quantity of posts does not mean that what forum members write is accurate or credible.
It's a forum of opinions. Yes, it's the best forum of opinions, but it is still full of a lot of windbags, myself included.
To RoyBell and Evan's folks...take everything you read with a rock of salt. A lot of us do have issues, and the reasons are pushing 21 years old. So take the babble here in context, and don't worry. Your boys are doing fine. They are in school, hopefully doing well and earning their degrees. We enjoy their effort on Saturdays, and then on Sundays and Mondays, we whine, b-tch, and moan when SMU gets beat.
Once you realize the cycle, you will be able to know when one of us really goes past the buoys.
