Geez-there's a difference in scoring when your down by 25 at halftime. The fact is that SMU has in every game against Division 1A competition been non-competitive when the game was actually on the line. Tulane and Rice especially shut down their offenses. SMU scored some pretty points when opponents had the 2nd or 3rd strings in or when the defenses played a less agressive defense. You don't really think SMU would have stopped Tulane if they had continued with their play-action passing game-or maybe you do. Similarly, SMU never stopped the "real" Rice offense until they shut it down.
