He is playing because the cupboard was bare and JJ decided that he was to be a starting building block. Your question is not unfair and under different circumstances he most certainly would be a red shirt this year learning a new system and learning from experienced upperclassmen.

Because Jones has his "System" and won't vary from it at all it seems. If he was a true miracle man, he would use Willis and put some W's on the board and change his offense a bit. But that is all he knows apparently.
