Signing Day

Post by Webmaster »

Wanted to make sure that everyone knows to check out the PonyFans.com Recruiting Roundup, which should be online sometime this evening/tonight.

We have interviewed every single signee and every signee's high school coach, plus (of course) we'll be covering the press conference, the unveiling of the new uniform and the Mustang Club event this evening. We'll also be featuring exclusive photos of the '03 recruiting class.

If you have friends who are interested in SMU football, please let the know they need to check out PonyFans.com

There will be a listing from SMU on smumustangs.com late in the morning.

<A HREF="http://www.smumustangs.com/news/02-03/030205fb1.asp" TARGET=_blank>www.smumustangs.com/news/02-03/030205fb1.asp</A>

But this information will not be as extensive as what PonyFans.com is going to post tonight.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I'm with you, d_pony. No wonder nobody follows SMU football- you can't, even when you want to. Is there a website or anything that updates as these guys sign? Or, can someone in the know at least post as guys sign?

How about a little help for the truly interested?

I would think there is someone in the SID office that could maybe hop on here and tell the few of us who really want to know what in the hell is going on.

I know we have paper on Meeks and Blake Warren. I have photos of Warren signing his letter... With the letters S M U shaved into his head.

No that's a SOLID commitment!

This will give you an idea of what other colleges are posting as guys sign:

Below is the final Recruiting Board for the fabulous 2003 campaign (has previously run only on premium up till now), along with grades at each position.

_____________________________________________

WIDE RECEIVER - With the losses of starters Sam Aiken and Chesley Borders, and with freshmen assuming the #3 and #4 slots in 02, UNC was seeking to add three talented WRs to the roster.

Stats: 52 catches, 1339 yds and 16 tds as a junior. 39 catches, 800 yards and 8 tds as a senior.
Notes: Showcased his skills during All-American Bowl for the top HS players in America.
Primary Recruiter: Webster
Secondary Recruiter: Brewer

Recruiting Rank: Top 10 WR

Mike Mason (5-11, 180, 4.4, NC)

Notes: Committed to UNC very early - way back in March - and has been a very asset in trumpeting UNC's recruiting cause on numerous unofficial visits to Chapel Hill.
Primary Recruiter: Browning
Secondary Recruiter: Brewer
Offers: UNC, ND, VA, GAT, FL, ECU, WF
2d place/Main Competition: UVA

...and then it goes on to list all 24 other recruits that have signed. Is there at least a list of names that have signed for SMU?

I have heard that everyone has signed except for Cleveland but he is not a problem, just that he has not signed.

They're all signed. We've got LOI's from all of the players on the list from yesterday's DMN. It will be posted on the official board as soon as they can get it typed up to post it. This is a GREAT class guys! And, we owe all of the coaches a lot for all of the hard work they did for SMU.

I can't make it up for the signing party recap tonite, so if there's anything interesting that is said or even given out as a handout, I (and I'm sure others who don't live in Dallas) would appreciate the Webmaster sharing such info with all of us.

GO MUSTANGS!

P.S. There will be one addition with the last 'ship. But, I'll let the coaches and the player have the honor of sharing that information with you.

Actually, I think he was swayed with they dropped a Flintstones-like Brontoasaurus steak in front of him. He's been quoted about how much he enjoyed the food over there.
