And BYU doesn't run the run and shoot and never has. Just further shows you don't know [deleted].

They were the first to run it in the late 70 to early 80's. The old offensive coordinator that went to Louisville with Kragthope (eventually getting fired) was the offensive coord or QB coach? Long time ago, sorry for the skipping around but I can look it up and get back to you. Leach was on his staff and learned the system later on as well as the UH and later JJ. BYU won national championship in 80 i believe. Actually 1984 with Robbie Bosco. Coach was Lavell Edwards.

their offensive coordinator from 82-99...their most successful years and the era of which you speak.. and QB coach was Norm Chow.

You may be right I could not get the my link up to see he the QB coach was. That was a great bunch of coaches that later became innovative. JJ wa the only one to stick with the so called run and shoot.

No, BYU has never run the Run and Shoot. NEVER.

It is (and was) a passing based attack but is more like the spread. Check your facts.

bigdaddy08091 wrote:I did pretty good on that one, yea? You never answered my question about National Championship. The answer is BYU with Jim McMann. This is a gimmick offense unless we can field a team like TT who consistently go 8-4. Our recruiting will never be THAT good. Get my point!

You were close. That BYU 1984 National Championship team was qb'd by Robbie Bosco. But Lavell Edwards did run some version of the Run and Shoot, as I recall.

The only reason they won the national championship that year was the offense they ran. 4 - 5 wide and throwing the ball on every down. Lavell Edwards was one of the first.

Leach was a student at BYU until 1983. He did not play football. From 83 to 86, he was at Pepperdine going to law school. So when was he "on the staff" and "learning the system"? As an undergrad student manager?

He was part of that fraternity of coaches learning and implementing what Lavell Edwards was doing at BYU. Leach happened along later down the road. I don't feal like digging up all the stuff just trust me.

OK, if not in 3 hours, then how long? What is a reasonable expectation?

No, my first book will focus on the youthful hip hop origins of that well known R&B group the California Raisins. It will be called "The Grapes of Rap."

Alaric is right - the run and shoot was developed by Mouse Davis at Portland State based on Ohio HS coach Glenn Ellison's offensive scheme. Can you produce one shred of evidence that says the run and shoot started at BYU? Good luck.
