i am sure some little kill-joy wussie brought it up to some university official and they in turn asked PonyFans management to make the announcement. PonyFans may be just the messenger. like it's really a huge problem and smu officals don't have better things to do. i hope dudley doo right is all warm and fuzzy now that some seats will be empty that would have been filled because someone picked up a few extra seats for a slight discount to get friends to come to a game.
yep....looks like ticket scalping is a major freaking problem there dudley!
For once I am right there with inane. We are not professional ticket brokers here, just the small pool of people who might actually want to go to a game.
It is good to know that our University is addressing the insane post-purchase trafficking of unwanted tickets...it is evident that with 20K empty seats at every home game they are readily doing their collective jobs with the same intensity that a top 25 athletic program should expect...(insert crickets chirping)...
see you at the game.

My impression is that at least part of the issue is the delivery of re-sold tickets. When tickets are re-sold through TicketMaster, SMU can print the ticket and make sure it gets in the right hands, because of the contract between SMU and TicketMaster, just like the contract most professional teams have with TicketMaster or a similar ticket-selling entity.
Thank you.

Ticketmaster is evil. I don't not want to get PF.com into trouble, but I do not play well with Ticketmaster. They suck.

No such law exists in Texas.
Is Ponyfans owned or operated by SMU and/or Ticketmaster? If not, the resale of tickets here is clearly appropriate and in no way a conflict of interest.
I don't claim to be a lawyer â€" although I do have a friend who was cited for scalping Mavs tickets â€" and this isn't a legal debate. We were asked to post this notice, so we did. No, this site is not owned or operated by SMU or Ticketmaster. But the access that allows us to cover the team is granted by the University, so we try to work together as well as we can.
I'm guessing the friend cited for scalping was within a certain distance of the AAC. I think there are scalping rules for selling tickets at certain city facilities.
