You might be right. I think he was on the grounds at Reunion Arena when he was cited. (Not positive - it's been a few years....)

The City of Dallas has a law that prohibits selling tickets on city property - even at face or below face value. I e-mailed Mark Cuban several years ago about setting up an area at AAC where season ticket holders could sell at face value or even give away unused tickets (like at Camden Yards in Baltimore). He thought it was a great idea, but cited the city law and said his initial inquiries about it to city staff were not promising.

SMU is in University Park. City of Dallas laws do not apply. UP laws do...so you might want to google those.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

What do those boards have to do with this?

These guys run a fantastic website for us, about our teams at our school. They've been asked to work within the parameters of the contract, so I expect citing what is accepted at any other school is going to do absolutely nothing. The school can't police the sale of all tickets - but it's not that hard to not sell them through a public site such as this.
I really shouldn't drink and type.

"What do those boards have to do with this?"

to give some perspective into this discussion and
show that many, many other college team message boards
across the spectrum allow their fans to buy/trade/sell game
tickets on their sites.

i agree the guys at PonyFans do a wonderful job and i am a
big fan of the writings of PonyPride....heck it's not PonyFans
fault some bozo at SMU asked them to make the announcement.

quit trying to be a control freak censor because you dont like
the message. this is a message board where things are and
can be discussed.

Most everything going on in our program right now is done after a survey is taken of top 25 programs. They have dropped the free ticket to lettermen, raised the Blvd prices and established a no in and out policy at the games just to name 3. These were specifically cited as decisions made after surveying top 25 programs. I think it is very justifiable to look at other programs in respect to this.

That said, this may have more to do with a contract with Ticketmaster and not a decison that is solely up to the discretion of the athletic department at this time. It may be able to be revisited at contract renewal time.

Regardless, Ponypride has asked that we not do it and I respect him enough and the work he does to abide as such. As unAmerican as it is to stifle free trade, "rules is rules", and until changed we must live by them.

Me thinks Obama and Mitchell have a lot in common. Neither has any experience, the system is very complex and the results will be much the same. Maybe we should consider Red Shirting Obama till the next election.

B+. Nice work.

Although now that I think of it he'd probably rather be blue-shirted.

Very nice work - made my day! However - I disagree - I'm pretty sure Obama prefers RED.

PonyPride was asked to pass along the message, I doubt that he cares about SMU fans, trying to get some butts in a sea of empty seats.

I was only responding to the Reunion Arena/AAC parts of that post. Never mentioned UP and SMU. I don't resell my tickets if I can't use them. I give them away to people who otherwise would not come and try to turn them into ticket buying fans.

As mentioned above by Alex, Pride was asked to post, he did, case closed. It's not that hard.

Go Ponies!

Does this prevent people who would like to buy tickets privately from posting and requesting that if there are any tickets available to send a pm.

That is not offering tickets for sale. Yes, obviously you could buy them from Ticketmaster. However, I would prefer to buy them from a supporter who can not use them that particular weekend.

Seriously, this is what the University is concerned about? Some fans selling tickets they can't use on PF?? Oh my.

They should be happy that people will buy tickets to go to the game. It's not like there's a market to make money off of these. I've had to give our tickets away for the games we couldn't go too, including the parking passes.

Every message board I have seen that had to do with college football has had a section where people could buy tickets from one another.

If SMU employees are actually reading this, please get over yourselves. Focus on providing a better game day experience and don't worry about how people sell their tickets they can't use. Just let fans get tickets any way they choose. Be thankful that the fans who can't use the tickets are trying to get someone in their seat instead of letting them remain empty.

Webmaster-I appreciate that you have to post these things to help support the University but sometimes you just have to question their absurdity.

After the outcome of the last 2 games, those who want to 'sell' their tickets will be lucky if they can just give 'em away.
