Ruslan Pateev: SMU in Final 4? (BB)

Postby PonyDoh » Wed Oct 29, 2008 10:31 pm

Pateev already visited Arizona St.

Pateev left yesterday for his second official visit destination, North Carolina State. The weekend of November 7th the center will visit Florida State. “We’re having conversations with SMU for him to possibly visit there and if he visits there that would be the last one,â€
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

People here are talking like he is definitely coming to visit. Perhaps that's wishful thinking, and recruits can always change their mind, but from this end it sounds like he has told SMU he is coming.

As far as I know, this is the only official visit SMU currently has scheduled between now and the signing period.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

all right! another guy that people can dream about coming here who will ultimately sign with someone else. 0.01% chance he signs with us but who knows.

I agree! Let's just recruit guys that have no other options. Its not likely that these top prospects will come here, even though we have managed to steal some recent recruits from top programs (Kentucky, Louisville, OU, Wash St,, Virgina) and have been in the final 4 this recruiting season on a couple top guys, so we should set the bar much lower.

Give me a break. Bringing in top talent and experiencing some success is exactly what will make hoops relevant at SMU again. At that point our basketball team will all the sudden become relevant to DFW area players- the main concern for most basketball fans on this board (although I personally could give a sh*t less where our recruits came from if they are great players).
