Word is he's now playing on the defensive line, and getting bigger and stronger every day.

Thank god! I have been so worried about or DT's next year with handy and elizee leaving. If only we could convert one more OL recruit to DL and get another signee for the 2009 class at DT i will feel much better

We should have some decent depth at DE next year and some decent depth in the secondary. LB position will be about the same. However if we were to have 2 season ending injuries at the tackle position we would be screwed and unable to stop the run or get much pass pressure imo

we need to convert some of the more athletic OL to DL.

What about Robiskie? I hoped he might have potential as a DT

If they could play defense they would already be there.

Is that because we have an abundance of OL talent available and therefore can switch anyone who is surplus over to DL...assuming they had the necessary "talent" to be a DL?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

So true. Defensive linemen should be born mean with a streak to kill - you can not convert a fat offensive lineman very rare that it works out in D1 ball when it is tried

Most offensive linemen are just to slow to play DL at the D1 level.

but I'm glad to here OL recruit Jimmy Chase is doing well at DL, a position he was All District at in HS. I just hope, if he is going to play DL for us, he gets alot bigger than his roster stated weight of 235 lbs. without loosing any quickness.

Nearly two months ago, he told me he already was over 250, and he might well be the quickest (former) OL on the roster. Very good athlete.

At the same time, Szymon Czerniak was moved from DE to OL at some point. I'm guessing that he was too slow for DE, we'll see if he can add the bulk he'll need at OT. Hopefully he'll make a decent backup in there. As a Pole, I'll be watching him with interest as he makes the transition.
