it would have to start by selling the championship series to a network--and there are lots of em now. how many espns are there?
the afl did it. "the rest" could, too, if only there were a few university presidents who weren't afraid of the word "competition'.
Can we leave NTSU out?

I think they'll need Boise St. to lose too. I expect voters would leave Boise St. higher if they are undefeated even though TCU has more impressive wins.

I would love to see Texas Tech and TCU in a bowl game. Lucifer the Pirate wants that rematch.

I'd love to see it too. Unfortunately, the bowl tie in's being what they are - get are bloody likely to get screwed unless we win out. Easy as that. Please God, not another Northern Illinois in a Bowl... PLease.

Id still laugh my [deleted] off if TCU is qualified for an at-large bid to a BCS bowl, but TULSA jumps them in the standings.
Tulsa plays ARK this weekend. With a win their SOS increases greatly. TCU's win over Stanford is less impressive.
should have stayed in CUSA

BSU will get the auto bid. An at large depends on how lowly ranked the BEast, ACC winner is. It would be hard to deny a second non-BCS team if the winners and the second team from the ACC//BEast are lower than say TCU or UTAH or BSU.
10 bids. Auto to: B12, B10, BEast, ACC, PAC10, SEC.
That leaves 4 at large. 1 likely goes to UTAH/BSU this year (Possibly TCU). That leaves 3 more. Each conference can ONLY get 2.
Big12 gets 1 extra.
SEC gets 1 extra.
PAC not likely. BSU beat next-ranked Oregon team.
BEast, not likely. Their best team is below all non-bcs contenders.
ACC, not likely, but they have champ game that could spring vault a lower ranked team for the auto-bid. FSU ranked below all but Tulsa in Non-BCS contenders.
Big10? 2nd best Ohio State is ranked below BSU and UTAH now.
So it is possible that 2 non-BCS get bids this year.

Don't think so. Arkansas is rated 30 places below Stanford in the Sagarin Ratings.

They've also played the better part of their SEC schedule. Wins more likely to come late.

TCU still would have to beat at top 10 Utah to make it happen. That is after beating a top 10 BYU a few Thursdays back. Arky is 83? Tulsa is 18-19, behind 3 Mountain West teams. And that is your first Top 25 team since TCU left the conference.
Yeah, should have stayed in C-DOA.....

If we were still in C-USA then Tulsa would have one loss instead of none and we'd be sitting at home watching the winner of the BYU/Utah game play in a BCS bowl and wishing we were in the MWC.

Man if you are really happy in MWC, then more power to you...but you do realize that you are the redheaded stepchild in that family...don't you?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I thought the quote was "beaten like a redheaded stepchild"
We haven't been beaten in conference yet....
In the MWC we get to play with other teams that are equally committed to athletic excellence. When Cincy, Louisville, etc left CUSA, we lost all of our big football attendance. We just did what we had to at that point.
BTW, we do the beating in baseball, we have won it every year. Basketball, not so much

Yes, that is the statement most often used in reference to the redheaded stepchild, but my emphases was more on the stepchild aspect. Just remember that those guys blewup the WAC because it didn't suit their needs to hang together and if it ever came to a dispute between you and one of those guys...chances are they would all just spit in your face. Just my opinion...of course.

If being a red-headed stepchild means:
Being currently ranked #12 nationally & consistently in the top 25.
A realistic shot at a BCS Bowl game.
Honing in on a 2nd conference championship in four years.
Incredible success in recruiting.
Membership in the NCAA's top non-BCS conference.
Playing quality teams - before good crowds & in great venues.
Hint: Maybe June needs to corner the market on red dye.

I just don't get SMU people that want to rail on TCU. They've done everything right, at least in football, and we've done everything wrong. We should aspire to them. Leave the "rivalry" to the players on the field and look at the reality of the situation.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
