That Big East Commish is criticizing the ACC for having contacts with Miami, Syracuse, Va Tech & Boston College and talking to those schools about becoming part of the ACC in an expanded conference designed to increase football revenues.

There have been rumors for years of ACC expansion, but always denials. Will be interesting to see if this gets more press in the near future. If, in fact, there is any movement in the BCS conferences, it would be logical to expect that to happen in conjunction with the current BCS contract's expiration (which I thought was the end of the 2005 season). Assuming there might be penalties for leaving a conference without 2 years notice (so remaining members can re-adjust their schedules), timing is about right for these "discussions" to begin.

The BCS conferences that do not have 12 members hold the key to any future realignments and possible inclusion of "some" of the current mid-majors. I still don't see SMU fitting in anywhere (in the BCS world), but who knows what might happen in the next several years?
