Penn State is highly over-rated. If they get a chamionship slot it will be a travesty.

How is Penn St. over rated? They beat a very good buckeye team on the road, and have lit up opposing defenses all year, all the while playing a very stingy D. Tech? Wow, their only real game this year, Texas, was a win, but who have they played? Nobody! 2 D1-AA schools and SMU in their non-conference schedule? Give me a break. Right now Penn St. should be #2, but if Tech survives the season then yes, they must go to a BCS title game.

Penn State pays a mid west schedule - so the results look impressive even though they are not. When they pay teams that stretch the field then they will get trounced.

Other than OSU who has Penn State beaten that were top 20 teams. Tech has beaten UT and Missouri so far and still has to beat OSU and OU. It is altogether possible that the Big XII South still could have a tie for its #1 slot. If OSU or OU beat TT and then one beats the other, you could have 3 teams tied for first out of those four teams. And they still will have to face either Missouri or Kansas. Whichever of those teams emerge will have beaten at least 4 top 20 teams. In the SEC, if Florida emerges, it will have beaten at least three top 20 teams. Then there's USC hiding in the weeds at #7. If the SEC and Big XII teams beat each other you could still end up with a travesty game of USC against PSU while the Big XII and SEC go to another bowl. If that happens, I will be laughing my tail off because the BCS just shot itself in the foot again. I read an interesting article in the Washington Post about how TCU, Utah and Boise couild all finish ahead of the ACC and Big East champion in the BCS polls, but only one of them would get a BCS Bowl bid. Boise has the inside track with only Fresno left as a team that might beat them.

Tech's Big 12 North opponents: Nebraska, Kansas and Kansas St. Did not play Missouri.

Interesting stat.....this is going off of pure individual talent might i remind you.

At the start of the 2008 NFL season this is the # of players represented from each conference:

SEC- 259
ACC- 254
Big Ten- 227
Pac-10- 178
Big XII - 170
Big East- 87

I would say the Big Ten is highly competitive given there are only 10 teams against 12 teams in both the SEC and ACC. The Big XII is weak which doesn't suprise me given the lack of talent from the Big XII North over the last 10 years.

Again, # of NFL players is on individual talent only and represents players from the past 10 to 15 years maybe?

Don't confuse the anti-Big Ten crowd with facts. It may be too much to ask from them to comprehend since they are guided by their pure hate for the conference.

But that's their deal.

Its funny, I actually don't care for the Big Ten. It is not as much fun to watch as other conferences and I certainly prefer both the SEC and Big XII. Maybe it is a weather thing and that style of football is more suited for Midwest/East Coast climate.

That being said, I don't think it is fair to dismiss Penn St. because Ohio St. hasn't been able to win a big game when representing the conference. Penn St.

People forget that Michigan beat Florida in the bowl game last year, Penn St. beat A&M. However, USC throttled Illinois and Tenn beat Wisconsin.

It is hard to gauge who the quality conferences/teams are and until they go to a playoff we will continue to debate....

I think the only way the Big 10 changes the perception is by having a good bowl season and if it wins its BCS game -- title game or Rose Bowl.

I've admitted a month ago that the conference has suffered and needs to get it act together based on what's happened the last couple of years. It's pretty frustrating.

That said, the conferences's bad rap is why Penn St. is probably getting shafted here. That's a darn good team out there. I've watched them beyond the Ohio St. game and they really execute on both sides of the ball. The Clark kid is having a great season at QB.

I just go off to needle the rank and file here because it's too easy drawing them offsides.

BEHOLD THE POWER OF THE BIG 10!!

I really hope USC plays Penn State in the RB. Another Big 10 beatdown.

I still think Texas is a better football team than Tech. They just got unlucky. :(

I agree, and the funny thing is here in Austin everybody is on suicide watch, and I am like, what the heck is your problem????

Texas is ranked right behind Tech, and in front of Blowklahoma.... Tech has a couple of hellacious opponents. Game is not over for the boys who play their games up the street from my abode.

Hey, L4L, not a huge fan of this song, but love the beginning of it... everytime I read your screen name the beginning of this just plays in my head.

Hopefully, you'll think it's okay, and I am not being a deutsche (other word was edited/deleted out)... again... love the opening of the song.
