as the commentator said in the comments section-THIS is the BCS job that Gary Patterson might really have a shot at. I think his chances for Clemson, Washington and Tennessee are very small but I would think he would be at the top of the list at K-State-if he even wants it. Consider he has Kansas roots(born in Kansas, attended Dodge City CC and K-State, he has a Midwest personality, he is an undisputed defensive guru who has regularly beaten Big 12 schools and he knows Texas recruiting and has the contacts IN TEXAS which WILL BE necessary to compete in the Big 12. There are very few recruits in the Midwest-Texas is where the players are. If nothing else TCU fans best be presenting a package in excess of the June Jones deal to keep Patterson.

Right. No team wins without a roster full of Texans.
Think how good USC and Florida would be if they could just sign some Texans!

Have you taken a look at the rosters of the successful teams in the Big 12 north of Texas? Incredibly stupid comment.

Wasn't hard 2 years ago and that program is in worse shape now. More concerned with "bigger" programs.

I certainly wouldn't worry about Clemson where Patterson is concerned. Clemson would retain Dabo if they couldn't attract more of a "name" coach than Patterson. He has done a good job building on a program that Sullivan/Fran established, but perception at Clemson is that only a "home run" hire will help them move past the Bowden era and Patterson is not that.

I think K State fits Fran as well. Kansas roots too.

Brady Hoke would be a great coach for K State, as well.

Stallion would be a great coach, too.
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!

Plus he can bring his entire purple wardrobe. Then TCU can still watch their favorite Grimace impersonator on TV.

I have a hard time believing that Patterson is any more attracted to K State than he was 3 three years ago and vice versa.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Well, to be fair, I don't think anyone is really attracted to Patterson.

No, actually it's not a stupid comment at all. All he said was that there are good players in other states, as well, and that a team doesn't necessarily need to recruit Texans to win. Nowhere did he say there aren't Texas-born kids who can help .... just that this state doesn't exactly have a stranglehold on college talent.

The more desperate the school is the more open its wallet is. Patterson has more credibility now and can ask for a longer contract with more money. K State could do a lot worse. But then again Fulmer and Tuberville might be there for the taking.
