On the brighter side, they'll get to host the Fort Worth Bowl (or whatever it is this year). I must say they are very deserving. Can't wait.
Neither of those teams are BCS Bowl worthy!
What a bunch of wimps! Top 12? ![]() ![]() ![]() On the Bright side it was lovely to see the effing FROGS gag! I can not wait for the day when it is SMU frying the FROGS! SMU - IT'S YOUR TURN
FIRE JUNE JONES ![]() USC Trojan for Life and SMU Dad!
I was not impressed with Utah at all and although TCU could move the ball pretty much at will, once they hit the red zone they were toast. TCU also had a rash of stupid penalties that ruined several possessions.
I was somewhat surprised that Utah continued to try over and over to run their WR down the sideline when it was apparent that he could not get seperation on TCU's #10. I've seen us do the same thing when I would think that at some point the WR needs to break it off and go to a slant once the DB gets commited to racing down the sideline such that the DB is behind you instead of between you and the QB. Oh well...what do I know...I'm not a coach. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
how does this game not get picked up by espn? two top 25 teams playing on thursday night? i would rather watch the nfl then beamer ball WEST DIVISION CHAMPS 2010
MWC does not have a contract with ESPN. Their contract is with CBSCS...thus the game was on CBSCS.

The MWC signed an exclusive contract with CSTV and that got amended to allow its games to also appear on Versus and Mtn. CBSCS bought CSTV. So, ESPN didn't have any rights to carry the game. That's why TCU fans are fuming about their conference affiliation right now. Thursday night games, Lousy TV network, lousy bowls, thin air. But they made their bed, now they have to sleep in it. Yes, if the Frogs were in any other conference and they were #12 and they were playing the #9 team, the game would be on either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2 because every other conference has a right of first refusal to that family of networks.
Only when I have to deal with the arrogance of some Frog fans. I've listened to so much lip every time I walk out of my house in SMU gear that it is hard to muster a lot of other emotions over TCU. Not to mention the fact that so many of them think TCU deserves to be handed a ranking every year before they ever play. I hope SMU someday has a shot at busting into the BCS, so for that I am envious. Otherwise I cannot think of anything I admire about TCU... wait, my kids have really enjoyed the Early Childhood Music program there. That's all.
Fort Worth Mustang Girl,
I also live in Fort Worth and have noted similar behavior. There exists a minority of TCU fans that think that their stuff doesn't stink. Since being left behind by Texas, A&M and Tech, they have developed a serious inferiority complex and love to dogpile on other non-BCS schools and Baylor. It's the "tallest midget in the room" syndrome, and it is very annoying. A&M has similar tendencies toward UT, but for different reasons. That said, the majority of TCU fans, especially the seasoned ones, are good natured, humble, and knowledgeable. There a pleasure to be around during games and tailgate parties. They haven't forgotten our collective history and many of them respectfully root for the ponies at times.
We have some very good friends who are TCU fans. I don't mean to imply that all TCU fans are that way. As you say, it is a very loud minority who are dreadful.
