Alan DavisThe 6'2", 240-pound (4.7 40) DE/OLB from Colleville Heritage still likes SMU, but has SMU on a list with some major heavyweights: LSU (offer), Florida State, Iowa, SMU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, TCU
Re: Alan DavisThink Justin Boren can help recruit his (former) teammate?

Re: Alan DavisAlan Davis update:
In addition to the offer from LSU, UT (among others) is now throwing their hat into the ring. We know that Alan is very interested in SMU. Another interesting bit of trivia is that Alan's mother went to school with Coach Bennett. The family hasn't decided whether or not Alan will be attending camp at SMU this summer or not. I assume that the reason SMU hasn't offered is because 1) we're limited in our number of scholarships we have to offer this year, and 2) Allan played mostly as a backup DT last year at Colleyville Heritage. With his 4.7 speed, he's projected as a DE in college. Offseason scouting report is that Allan has pumped up considerably, adding approx. 20 lbs. of muscle from last year. He has a fighter's mentality and likes to hit. From friends in Colleyville, I hear that Davis is a potential star in the making. With his size and speed, I'm sure the coaches are intrigued with this kid, but they may be waiting for the first few games of his senior year to evaluate how he does starting on defense prior to making an offer. Personally, I think Davis would be a solid pick up. The Davis' are friends of the (SMU fresh. OL Justin) Boren family, so we certainly have plenty of inroads to pursuing Davis. Re: Alan DavisIf we do have a chance at him, we should go get him. One of the recruiting websites I saw said he won't be a good player in college, he'll be a great player. We can use a few of those, don't you think?
Re: Alan DavisI've heard he's going to be a star in college. Offering him sounds like it should be a no-brainer.
Re: Alan DavisLast I saw, he had offers from Arizona, Auburn, Baylor, Central Florida, LSU, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Tulsa.
SMU! SMU! SMU!
Re: Alan DavisWhat does Texas Football say about him? He sounds like a real good player.
Re: Alan DavisI read that he bench presses 315 pounds and has a squat of 500. Pretty stout for a guy of his size.
Re: Alan DavisIn this part of the world, at least, (LSU coach) Nick Saban is thought of as a recruiting genius. If he's offered this Davis guy, I'd wager he's worth going after.
Re: Alan DavisUpdate:
At last word, Davis now has 13 offers in hand, including new ones from Oklahoma and Nebraska (as previously reported by Lotus). The good news is that he's now supposedly going to attend one of SMU's summer camps. This is a great first step since I don't think there's much film available on Davis as yet (as a junior, he mostly played backup at DT). Hopefully, this'll give the coaches a better idea of his potential (he's grown a lot since last year). I also know that Davis has Coach Ringo's cell phone number now, so hopefully, they'll open some dialog soon.
