31-26 with 38 seconds left. A close loss is still a loss.

Poor defensive tackling. Plenty f dropped passes. A nonexistence running game. We have a few stupid penalties (remember when we rough the kicker? How did that turn out?). Lack of depth which equals plenty of injuries. Small, young, slow and weak is not a combination for success yet that is what we have. Plus, we should put the field goal points on the board when we have a chance.

*sigh*

It's times like these (towards the end of yet another painful season of losing football) that I can't help but think of what it would've been like had I attended the University of Texas instead of SMU. National championships, conference championships, bowl games every year, winning basketball teams, etc. I'm becoming convinced that, at only 26 years old, I've already shaved a year or two off of my life from watching this program. Who knows how much shorter my life expectancy will be in a decade or two.

I can't imagine what it must be like for those of you that have been watching this nonsense for 20+ years. I feel like I'm approaching the end of my rope, and I've only been watching since 2001! I know, I know - JJ will turn this thing around, blah, blah, blah. But the fact that this team is less competitive than last year's team is awfully disheartening.

I don't know exactly why, but for some reason I'm exceptionally frustrated after today's game. I guess I just came into it expecting a win, and as we all know, expectations and SMU fandom are a dangerous combination.

Oh, well. Sorry for the rant. At least I have a fridge full of Sierra Nevada Celebration to keep me company. Let the self-medication commence. Prosit, y'all!

Roughing the kicker penalty in the first series ended up having a profound impact on the game. Take 4 points away from Memphis and the end of the 4th quarter changes drastically.

Problem is that I still do not see the progress I expected by this time of the season. Problem with center snaps, some critical dropped passes particularly by Robinson, the usual inopportune penalties, terrible tackling technique and the Ds failure to make a critical 3d down stop deep in Memphis territory when it was needed most.

Turn out the lights.

It could have been worse - SMU had the ball 13 minutes less and still within

I feel better now..

Broke out the Shiner Bock, Joe Pa just sucked the Big One, and LSU just tied it up 21-21.

Things are lookin up..,

Now if the "Fighting Methodists" keep winning we may get Florida-USC for the NC after all!
