just don't understand any rational reason OU should be ranked ahead of Texas. Texas has one loss against No. 2 in the last second on the Road and victories over 3 of Top 13-OU, Missouri and Oklahoma St most of which have only lost to Top 5 teams. Next closest victory was by 24 points. Florida lost to Mississippi at home. Looks like this thing is a Beauty Pageant rather than pollsters rationally weighing the relative performances of the teams.
Top Ranked Big East Teams Pitt at 21 and Cincy at 22. Top Ranked ACC Team North Carolina at 17. Yet MWC has 3 teams in top 18.

Setting up an OK move up when they take down TT in two weeks.
Alabama still has to play a tough Rivalry game against Auburn.
BCS can still take Oklahoma again even if they aren't the South champs and Mizzou knocks off UT in Championship game.
BCS gets OK-Florida and everyone else gets
Playoff anyone?

I thought since UT beat Mizzou that they would win the tie breaker before BCS ranking comes into play.
What do I know?

you could be right since the BCS tiebreaker is step 5 and they compare wins in conference play...but i think thats just within the division, i could be wrong...the Big XII comish doesnt even know.

remember this is just the Coaches Poll not the BCS Poll-the computer rankings should have Texas and Tech higher-I know that they are No. 1 and No. 2 in the Sagarin ratings which is one of 5 or so computer rankings
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt08.htm
the BCS Rules(see below)- a naked restraint of trade but one which the non-BCS schools have agreed to thereby flushing any potential lawsuit down the drain.

I just love this one...
4. Notre Dame will have an automatic berth if it is in the top eight of the final BCS Standings.
Talk about a beauty pageant!

And explain why BYU, slaughtered by TCU, is ranked four slots AHEAD of the Frogs. Just goes to show the BCS silliness.

TCU has two losses so there is at least some explanation for that.

Texas is 4th in the AP Poll with OU 5th. Top 5 are from Southern Conferences-which is where the best football players are ocated and where the best football is played along with USC.
