Freshmen off campusI learned Saturday night that some of the high rise on Yale and Central will be converted into a freshman dorm. If this is true, this is so wrong. On the other hand, they'll be within walking distance of several adult watering holes and will be able to walk/stumble back to their dorm rooms without having to get behind the wheel. Maybe this is what the administration had in mind when they came up this this brilliant idea.

I don't think it will be freshmen. There has been talk of buildig a high rise apartment building (where jacks used to be) and it would be for upperclass students only. they are mving towards having freshmen and sophomores live on campus.
I heard it from a couple of relatively new SMU alumni (class of '06 and '07).

It was also in the DMN around the time they announced the library. The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
now they can just walk over to Ozanas or Barley house even more easier
I like things that are even more easier
thats why i have 2 "easy" buttons
Don't two easy's make a hard?
i give up
Shamburger lot is being developed by a private developer, last time I heard.
Me. I'll have the penthouse suite. The dorm will be women only, and that will be sweet. Okay. I'm lying. BACK TO WORK! This article implies that SMU is building on yale, but the Shamburger lot is being developed by Prescott. http://www.peoplenewspapers.com/ME2/Audiences/dirmod.asp?sid=&nm=&type=Publishing&mod=Publications%3A%3AArticle&mid=&AudID=F8FE2234107E4A88B820886953F77B32&tier=4&id=6C066BD7C2A94F168D16940B01F0BC0C Looks like lots of changes coming for that area. Hopefully not going to be ruined like greenville north of mockingbird, going from wonderful bars and strip clubs to worthless banks (who doesn't bank online?) and retail. Here's an article on some bar owner complaining that SMU won't buy his property for double market value. http://www.peoplenewspapers.com/ME2/Audiences/dirmod.asp?sid=&nm=&type=Publishing&mod=Publications%3A%3AArticle&mid=8F3A7027421841978F18BE895F87F791&AudID=F8FE2234107E4A88B820886953F77B32&tier=4&id=87D93ACB82D245DB8889F394CED769F7
The Shamburger lot is owned by an entity named "MC Townhomes", most likely not an SMU pseudonym.
The jack's lot (as we already knew) IS still owned by SMU. Sir, shooting-star, sir.
