PP took down the other thread, perhaps because of some rather colorful calling out by several of us or because it was a lie. I kinda err on the lie.
Somebody buzz PP and let him know troll is back.
To troll:
They are suspended and will not play the remaining two games
Show me details and proof, troll, and I will apologize. Otherwise, take this, your only posts on this board...(gee, I wonder why)...and go pound sand.
I don't know that he deserves an apology for that, the poster wanted corroboration that the original poster never provided. He definitely could have been more tactful about it though.
doh!
What does Coach Doh have to do with this?

Brings back around the great Mike Cavan suspensions circa 1996. FIRST YEAR coaches must establish discipline in a program early. Its like forcing your kid to do his homework and proper study habits from the first week of school. Once you establish that discipline-everybody is on the same page. I supported Mike Cavan in his suspensions in 1996 and support June Jones if stated rules were violated.

I'm fine with the suspensions, it's not like it is lets say 1997, and we have 6 wins and are playing a winless TCU team...........
If it gets the two WR's ready for next year and sets an example so the team works harder towards a common goal next season (2 wins!), then I am fine with it.
T-minus 4 seconds till the transferring rumors start.
Sam Houston is going to dominate next year with Willis at the helm and sanders and robinson split out wide!

I don't get these players. It's a friggin 3-strike system. If you've got two already, and you shouldn't, do whatever it takes to make damn sure you don't get number three. You know it's going to be enforced, he benched the incumbant QB for all of spring ball for godsake. Idiots.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Agree 100% - maybe we shouldn't be considering lowering academic standards anymore if this sort of thing is already going on

Look there aren't any raised recruiting standards at SMU anymore as best I can tell. The reason we don't get good players now is we have sucked for so long. Legit D-1 guys like Robinson and Sanders could change that if they put their minds to it, but that requires them to have minds and use them.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Is SMU truly on a level playing field?
There's a lot of room between where we are and where we want to be. I truly believe that this move is part of the path to get there. This weeks theme has been about changing the mindset of those players who are here. In order to gain the competitive edge that we need to compete with similarly talented players, we need the complete buy-in of the players that we do have.
When Bennett dropped Willis at the UTEP game in '06, he likely cost himself a bowl bid. JJ Dropping anyone at this point is giving up only the potential for a win.
If these kids learn that attention to detail, in academics, in football and in life, is the key to success... That'll pay off considerably better over the course of the next few years than the boost we'd get from a 3 win season.
