Good Lord. Look at what we are throwing out this year. We are playing with a bunch of babies. Freshmen make mistakes that can cost you games. This is part of the learning curve. When June decided to start Bo Levi at the beginning of the year expecting anything more than 4 wins was probably unrealistic. However, we've been in position to win 4 or 5 games this year with two games left in the season. We should have a pretty salty team by 2010 if we can keep making improvement with the freshmen and sophomores we are tossing out there to the wolves right now.
Back off Warchild seriously.
I dont want our star players to get a break but this year was just a total wash. sure other top programs sweep things under the rugs when their stars mess up, im not saying JJ needs to do that but make them run more, let them sit out the first half and think about putting them in in the 2nd half. have them on a leash but dont completely throw them in the dog house like he did JW. sure we dont know the full story or why the were even suspsend, what rules they broke. we might not even know that but i want us to still try and compete in the final 2 games. so heres to hoping that JJ can find a way to win without his 2 best players
[quote="J.T.supporta"]im not in that crowd of "instant gratification" i had no expectations but what am i to expect next year if hes going to suspend/bench/not play our best players...quote]
He suspended those who needed to be suspended, benched those who needed to be benched and played the best players - He is the coach and he makes that determination - it's not a vote or an opinion poll of hacks. This is a "new broom sweeps clean" year (thank goodness). Too bad if it fell short of your so-called "expectations" - what do you plan to do? Post more tiresome whines? Woe is you.
yes WOE IS ME... but i guess you dont read any of my whines...I HAD NO EXPECTATIONS about this year and never expected us to go out and have the next best turnaround in NCAA football. if he suspended them for the right reasons then fine, im not even whining...I just think we should know the full extent of this situation. sure SMU has the right to just say "team rules" yes i know this was a clean up process and setting the bar for the years to come. JW was made of that example. suspend them for a half, make them run more, put them on an even shorter leash, maybe just 1 game... WOE IS ME! ![]()
He's laid the foundation for the future. Ever look at the footing of a house. Its not very pretty, but its necessary. He got young players some experience that will help them in the future. He set the tone for the future concerning behavior and he has been teaching these players every single day. Over time, this will be a turn around.
thanks Eaststang...thats all i needed to hear to get myself back to reality and know that all is not lost.
Wow - that is just an unbelievable statistic.
1. He fixed the uniforms (whether he was responsible or not, we need to give him credit for something)
2. He set more realistic expectations for next year (compared to the people who thought we would win 9 games this year)
He did not play the best players. He may have played the people he felt worked best in his system, or who worked the hardest in practice, or whatever his determination was - that is his right as coach. But when our best tackle of the season was made by our kicker and we have obvious offensive talent standing on the sidelines and never seeing a meaningful touch, we can all read the writing on the wall.
JJ showed me the meaning of agony and suffering watching an "alleged" Division 1 football team.
Even at their worst my "Trojans" brought a totally different kind of disgust. USC could at least play the game but just didn't, the Ponies can't even play the game at D1 level. I was at a Microsoft conference this morning and one of the female MS women employees knew that SMU had some new football coach even if she didn't know who. So at least we have some national recognition that SMU still "plays" football, unfortunately we on PF know differently! SMU - IT'S YOUR TURN

First and foremost, JJ has ended the red zone panic of past years. During the past regime it seemed that every time we got close, the coaching staff was completely at loss as to how to deal with the moment of opportunity. JJ has been there and the command and control of the offense is not in doubt. For this improvement alone, I am more than willing to give these guys a chance to mature and produce.
well, guess that doesn't include either the Tulsa or Houston game
In order to be successful team, every one must be on the same team . Each player must be commited to the same goals. Discipline is the key to success in any field of endeavor. Adhere to the rulebook or face the consequences. These young men are now paying the price. Pac-man Jones is an example of the lack of self-control and discipline. Better to learn to accept the rules now. The Post Office is two hundred years old. If I were that old, I'd move slow too.
Man dont you have anything better to do than attend anything MS puts on. ![]() Sent from my KOREAN knockoff using Tapdance 5
