Irving TETE Vincent Chase (6-4, 240, 4.7) of Irving is listed today by Rivals as "the best TE nobody's talking about." They say that in addition to SMU, he's considering Florida, Kansas State, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Syracuse and Wisconsin. I've heard he also has drawn interest from Iowa, Colorado and Iowa State.
A couple things to remember: 1. His HS coach is Jim Bennett - as in Phil and Jerry's brother. And Phil Bennett has said he expects first dibs on all Irving HS players! 2. He's very good friends with Zach Hall's younger brother, who's an offensive lineman at Irving High.
Re: Irving TEI was hoping rivals and insiders wouldn't write about this guy, so that (somehow) he'd fly under the radar of other schools.
"What kind of weirdo school are they running over there in Fort Worth?"

Re: Irving TENote: Zach Hall's brother is supposed to be a better player than Zach. He must be something.
Re: Irving TENacho,
Just curious -- when you say something like this who are you quoting?
Re: Irving TELast I heard, the younger Hall (Chris?) was listed around 6-4, 270 -- and he's only going to be a junior this fall at Irving HS.
In fact, I think I remember him posting here. So if you're out there, Chris, can you give us a size update? And let us know how much you want to join Zach at SMU? And what can you tell us about the likelihood of Vincent Chase coming on board?
Re: Irving TEWhen I say something like that I am quoting someone who knows everything about him.
Re: Irving TEthis is Chris Hall, zach hall's brother, im now 6'5 280. and ill be a junior next year. i had to change my username from stangstud05 because i lost my password. everything yall have heard about vincent is true. except that comment about keeping him under the radar. vincent has 13 Div-1 offers. LSU, Oklahoma, Florida, Syracuse, Iowa State, Colorado etc. etc. But one of the main reasons he likes SMU, is if he comes, SMU will pick up his brother from Blinn JC. And Nacho probably got that quote from Jim Bennett, my head coach at Irving High.
Re: Irving TEwhat position does his brother play?
Re: Irving TEAs you guys probably remember, Vincent Chase is Bobby Chase's little brother. There was a lot of speculation about Bobby receiving a scholarship from SMU this past February, but I guess at the time he hadn't qualified or something.
Anyway, the elder Chase was one of DFW?s better receivers (Coca Cola All Star, etc.). Getting both brothers to compliment Bartel would be sensational. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: Irving TEDamn - Nebraska is now in the running for Vincent Chase. His brother Bobby was a great WR in high school. He's tall (about 6'5"), fast and can jump a mile high. PP is right - adding both brothers would be a great addition.
And from the scouting reports I've heard, "wardog" (Chris Hall) is quickly becoming a very good lineman with a bright future. Remember, wardog, you need to come to SMU with your brother - and help us convince the Chase brothers to arrive a year before you. This Irving HS-SMU connection could be a gold mine, and your family and the Chase family can lay the groundwork. Can we expect to see you at SMU in a couple of years, butting heads in practice with Zach?
Re: Irving TEI can see it now...the year is 2006 and everyone is talking about the reborn SMU Mustangs, who have replaced Miami as the program everyone is talking about. And it all started when a bunch of Dallas area recruits who had opportunities to leave the area and play for some of the top programs in the country just said "no thanks, I'm staying home". SMU becomes the 1st non-BCS program to crash the party.
That's a nice dream, isn't it?
Re: Irving TEHell yes! It takes a couple of local kids with a genuine desire to stay home and with the talent and inner drive to excel. Could be Darring Johnson, Anthony Barnett, Zach Hall, Fred Turner, Desmond Jones or any of the local guys. There's no reason it shouldn't be a stable full of Mustangs from Irving. Get both Halls, both Chases, Lucky DeLay .... Coach Phil had better be all over Brother Jim on this.
Don't know about crashing the BCS, but with some of the top local guys alone, this program could have success like it hasn't seen in eons. Come on, Vincent Chase, Chris Hall, etc. Stay home - make your home team hot again. [This message has been edited by WildHorse (edited 06-01-2003).] Go PONIES!
Re: Irving TEthat would be a big step for the recruiting class of 2004 to get vincent chase

Re: Irving TEWell I have heard vincent chase might commit to Smu real soon. His brother will go to blinn college for a year and come to Smu in the fall of 2004 with his brother.
Re: Irving TEThat would be great if it's true. Any idea when it might happen? I think most of us have good vibes about our coaches' recruiting abilities after the haul they made in February. All it would take to build on that success is an early commitment from a real stud recruit - and it sounds like Vincent Chase could be that player. Start the summer with commitments from him - and from his JUCO brother - and let Coach Bennett and his staff go to work. The players coming to SMU will be better and better in future years, and the Irving Boys could be a huge part of that.
Go PONIES!
