I wasn't able to watch the opening game vs USF. Have tried to read up some and a couple things struck me as odd (other than the ones that have been discussed at length like FG%, Dia not starting, Bamba's poor game, etc.).
- Doh's blog says we gave up 14 offensive rebounds in the first half!!! I want to think this is a typo.
- Mook started but managed only 1 rebound. We know he isn't really a scorer, if he isn't a pressence on the boards and on D he will drop from the rotation quickly.
- Harp 7 rebounds led the team. That should not happen with Bamba, Dia, Mook, and even guys like Nayakundi and Malone on the team.
- Malone's limited minutes make me think Doherty is still not pleased with his defense. I am really counting on him being a solid player for us. I that is the case.
- With McCoy and Williams playing 34+ minutes each we can see that their performances really will be key for us this season.
- I still think we are a lock for 4 double digit scorers. After game 1 it seems McCoy, Williams, Bamba and Dia are the likely 4. Then when Faye gets back who knows what his production may be and others could push the double digit mark too.
- Who loses their minutes? I think we drop to at most a 9 man rotation, maybe 8. Means that in the short term 1 or 2 guys who played in game 1 drop from the rotation (probably after the Classic). When Faye gets here that number increases by 1.

Afraid not. After Bamba got in foul trouble we were dominated on the boards.

Maybe not. Paulius Ritter started most of last season, despite not putting up much of anything in the stat column. If you recall, early in the season there was a quote from Doherty in the paper about the team not being physicla enough, and from that point on Ritter was starting. I always presumed it was because Ritter was willing to do the physical dirty work that no one else as willing to take on. Same could be true for Otis, he could stay in the lineup just to keep a banger on the court.

I really dont think so, but we'll see. I dont see this team scoring alot of points this year, if 4 guys are averaging double figures, we'll have several others putting up a donut. To put up the numbers your talking about, the team would need to average in the high 70's.
I havent seen anything from Faye that would indicate he'll be much of a factor at the offensive end. He's quick and athletic, but not strong, and he has no real offensive skills. He'll throw down a dunk when he has an open lane to the basket, but he'll also get pushed around alot, he really is not physically strong.

I'll believe that Faye is eligible when I see him step on the court. Other than that, it's not looking good for Haynes or Walker. They played the fewest minutes, and produced the least. Produced nothing, actually. Malone and Nyakundi played slightly more minutes and they at least scored a few points. Walker might still get a few minutes a game as a backup to McCoy and Williams, but I see Haynes minutes going to Harp, and possibly Malone.

X, what reason is there to doubt Faye's eligibility? I'm not doubting your knowledge, I'd just like to know what you know.

The reason is his history. I wont go into details because they would probably get this thread deleted, but he has a very poor track record in the classroom. It could go either way right now, he might make it, or he might not.
I realize that this is one of the things nobody wants mentioned, so pardon the [deleted] out of me for telling you the truth. It's not something I'm interested in arguing about, that's why I havent said much. I'll believe it when I see it, and that's my final word on the subject.

That's fair enough, X. FWIW, this is the first I've heard of anyone doubting it. We shall see. I hope he will be eligible.

Faye must have joined the Justin Willis, Aldrick Robinson and Emmanuel Sanders line of thinking -- where going to class is considered a suggestion and not a requirement.

I'm not near as close to the inside of the program as X, but I've heard the same issues about Faye from others.

X, he had this history at GaTech...are you saying he's continued here as well or just going off his record at GT?
