Tell that to the App States of the FCS division. They would probably whup up on SMU and quite a few other FBS programs.

If SMU was playing Troy next week I know who I would put my money on.

Yes, but Troy has an excuse they are not as deep at any position as LSU. Just ran out of steam in the fourth.

Sucks we let them hang 36 on us.

Questions for those who follow FCS football closely.

When teams (not in the same conference) are being considered for the playoffs, how are losses to FBS schools viewed? For example, would an undefeated FCS team (that didn't play an FBS team) be rated ahead (or behind) an FCS school whose only loss was to a FBS team? Are games against FBS teams considered where comparing FCS teams?

Troy would be a prohitive favorite over SMU-they are only ranked 80 places higher than SMU in the Sagarin ratings. 3 of 4 losses were to LSU(40-31), Ohio St(28-10), and Oklahoma St all on the Road.

No.

How did Troy get into this discussion? They're not an FCS school, they're in the Sun Belt.
