When teams (not in the same conference) are being considered for the playoffs, how are losses to FBS schools viewed? For example, would an undefeated FCS team (that didn't play an FBS team) be rated ahead (or behind) an FCS school whose only loss was to a FBS team? Are games against FBS teams considered where comparing FCS teams?

In ceding the 16 teams, the FCS will take certain conference champs and then the best at-large candidates out there, while considering putting together a tournament that will have all regions of the country represented (similar to the field of 65 for the Big Dance). Losses to strong FBS programs won't hurt your resume, but wins against FBS schools can make a huge difference.

I follow the Southern Conference where App State is 7-0, 9-2 overall; Wofford is 6-1, 8-2 overall and Elon is 6-2, 8-3 overall. They would all like to make the 16 team field but realistically only 2 will be invited. Wofford is the only one to have played outside of their Division - they lost by 10 at South Carolina. That will be considered a "good loss" by the committee and likely will help get them in.

Closer to home in the Southland Conference, Central Arkansas leads and McNeese State will have to beat Central in their final game to claim the conference title and represent the Southland. Central played at Tulsa (but got blown out). McNeese played at UNC and played the Tar Heels very tough. If there roles were revered, McNeese would have a better argument for an at-large berth, but they look to be a one bid league.
