3.8 Yards Per Pass

Absolutely. Some of these all-district teams are complete political BS. And because we don't want to offend Johnny because he tries hard, then it's like youth sports where everybody gets a trophy.
It's ridiculous. The only things that would warrant a little consideration on any fan's part is if a player was the MVP, OPOY or DPOY. After that, forget it.

You're arguing both sides here. First you go out of your way to point out that these guys were all-district and then you post that the recognition is meaningless in the college game?? What is your point?

Just like you. I just wanted to put facts on the board since somebody was too lazy to look it up. Just trying to help out.
My argument pertained to the latter thing you quoted.
Thanks, very much.

Don't mind Patton, he just likes to see himself post much like he likes to look at himself in the mirror each morning and say "I'm good enough...I'm smart enough...and doggone it, people like me."

My daughter's soccer team didn't get a trophy this year because they had a rough year. I didn't see where they were bent out of shape because of it.
And just for all of my posts, I'm making up for missing a month. So tough darts.

The General actually knows alot about football and is a loyal SMU supporter. But Stallion is right in terms of recruiting kids big enough to play.
I know you all are always fascinated with only the Dallas area kids, but the receiver Nate Askew at Madison High School down here who has played in big games and last year by himself beat Smithson Valley in that playoff game is currently being recruited by UTEP, Houston and Tulsa out of conference USA. He is 6 foot plus and growing and about 205 lbs. Sure like to see us get someone of his size to throw the ball to rather than have to face him against us in conference. Plus I get he would bet us more than 3.8 yards a catch.
Stallion is right to a certain extent -- we have got to get bigger kids who can handle Div. 1. I just wish someone up there would look at some of the kids from the winning programs down here like Smithson Valley, Reagan, Madison, Alamo Heights, etc. who could help us.

Axiom: SMU needs better players who show up to campus, show up to class, and show up on the gridiron.
Proof: The W/L results of the last 20 years
I know we all need something to discuss, but c'mon, the logic syllogism of "if SMU has better players, then it will win more" can only be covered just so much.

Stallion wrote:you do realize that's not what I mean by "All district WRs". It means that high school studs don't always have the size, speed, height, quickness or elusiveness-or some combination of the above and other factors- to project to be quality college football players. It mean we need to do a better job of projecting players that can be successful at the next level or pretty soon you turn around and realize that you are a tad too short at CB, too slow at LB, lack size in the OLine or lack game breakers at Receiver-kinda like our team.
I think what horse with a pair is saying and I agree SMU needs to recruit wideouts and slots that are over 6' and 200 to 210 lbs with softhands and can run out of their own shadow. If this mean recruiting some light weight tight ends and slimming them down so they can run then do it.

....that's what you will get with High School All-District Receivers. SMU must recruit game breaking home run threats at every receiver position for this offense to reach its potential. Kids that can take a 3 yard pass to the House. Its why last years recruiting class of High School All-District receiver recruits are not going to get the job done at this level and will have to be "recruited over". I'm sure they will make a lot of neat-o catches for 8 yards and a cloud of dust but in this offense you got to put it in the endzone. SMU has been very lucky to have two great receivers that fit the model for what is needed in this offense. Robinson and Sanders.
Did you watch that game? I am guessing you did not because if you did you would not be blaming our WR play for a couple of QBs who went 9-24 and another one who went 4-12
How many dropped passes did you see?
Beasley had about 4, i think. Haynes had at least 2 that I remember.
Haynes had 2? When? The UTEP game? What????

You all need to remember that the players read these posts , I cannot stand the negativity. I really feel that no one wants to win more than the men on the field. As I recall we were 6 and 7 a few years ago, not bad for a post death penalty program. We have been watching many of these players for a number of years. For many, this will be their final year on the Ford Stadium field. I hope that they will remember all the positive things that Pony fans have had to say, not the comments made by those that have never stepped foot on a football field. I have faith in June Jones and I will always be a pony mom.

i sure do hope some of the players read these posts because the constant [deleted] poor efforts out there on that field are inexcusable. JJ knows that. Sure 'some' of the players give it their all and leave it on the field but certain of us know when guys are mailing it in.
im a positive fan and want nothing best the best for these players but the performance on the field NEEDs and CAN be better

i think the majority of us miss those days and even the ones in the dating back to the 80s and before then...
havnet really looked at the prospects yet but JJ should have a great class with 1 full year under his belt.
feel free to post more if you want. its always great to have the opinions of others chime in.
