...which is located in Arlington instead of Dallas...thanks to Ms. Miller.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

but won't we have to drive over her purdy bridges to get to that stadium in Arlington. What a thrill that will be. The people in South Dallas are the ones who should really hate her-this could have been a trasformative project in the Southern sector-a real blown opportunity for the MAYOR of Dallas. Not to mention it would have saved Fair Park and the Cotton Bowl Classic as Dallas institutions

Who needs a Superbowl, Final Four, Cotton Bowl Classic or a NBA allstar game for $300,000,000.00? We spent $50,000,000.00 to to upgrade the CottonBowl urinals to keep Prairie View-Grambling and Texas-OU for another few years, before they bolt as well. Much better investment.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The crime is that the people weren't even allowed to vote on it and nobody was given the chance to say "Yes, Let's Build It" like with the AAC.

I actually stood next to her in an airport security line last March. Despite the overwhelming urge to cause a "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING????" scene, I made it through the ordeal without incident.

Sort of like when the Redskins put a stadium out in the middle of nowhere because Alexandria VA didn't want the traffic 8 days a year. Dumb.

LM and Dallas can spin it anyway they like, but they f-ed this up in a big way. Yes, the city will still benefit from these events being in Arlington but nothing compared to the events happening in the core of the city. Jerry World would have saved Fair Park (an area that desperately needs saving and an area that is such an important part of the history of Dallas) - it would have kept UT/OU at the State Fair (where it should be) forever, it would have razed and redeveloped the surrounding area one of the worst parts of the city. But LM wanted to prove a point.....I hope it was worth it??

If you want to blame someone, your ire at Laura Miller is misdirected. Blame Ron Kirk and John Ware. The lopsided deal they gave Hicks/Perot i.e Center Operating Company (COC) to build the AAC is why the Cowboys are not in Dallas.
The DMN did a very poor job of reporting that the contract between the city of Dallas and COC gave COC the right of first refusal to ANY new structure that would compete with AAC. The non-compete specifically included Reunion Arena and that's why even though COC gave up control of Reunion Arena, the city could not book events on their own. AAC always had first dibs on ANY show, game, etc.
The Cowboys could not negotiate with the city of Dallas because the city was not allowed by COC to make any concessions for a football stadium. That's why they tried to work through Dallas County - and we see how that worked out.
So while I don't always agree with Laura Miller (and her stupid bridges), blame Ron Kirk and John Ware for the sweetheart deal they gave up to get the AAC built.

Come on, man. That is ridiculous. There wouldn’t be any pro teams in Dallas if it weren’t for Ron Kirk. The Mavs and Stars would be in Arlington too….and there would be no Victory Park. He may have gave a nice deal, but at least Ron Kirk got it done. Laura Miller could have shown foresight and leadership by bring everyone together to make the Cowboys stadium happen but she tried to bluff Jerry thinking he would come back and of course he didn’t. Some people get things done, and some people don't.

Actually, its a very good analysis. A large part of the blame rests at the feet of the Dallas County Comissioners Court. They were the ones that blocked the potential land deal on the west side of Stemmons.

All this said, at the very minimum Laura Miller should have used her position as a bully pulpit to push through a new stadium.

In the end, Laura Miller is a 'ho (she can't even afford the w, r, or e)
"It'd be nice to see Jesse Henderson break one here."
