Having run for office and having been involved in poll watching and other events, there are so many intangibles to run an election. First, paper ballots can be copies, messed up, and jam in the machines. Second, computerized voting machines drive old people nuts, or better yet, folks fill out their ballot and forget to hit the last button which says Vote. Third, you have write-in ballots. Fourth with antiquated manual voting machines, you have to deal with paper slipage or jammed machines. And then you have all the registration issues such as fake addresses, borrowing addresses, no fixed address. In Northern Virginia, DC, Maryland that is an issue because theoretically you could register in all three jurisdictions and vote three times. When Doug Wilder ran for Governor of Virginia there were multiple false registrations in Northern Virginia. Or on election day, people showing up at the wrong poll five minutes before close. We haven't even dealt with felons or special people. A friend of mine was from New York and there was one precinct that was 80% populated by an insane assylum. Whichever party got the buses to the assylum first, got the votes.

Ever hear of Florida and Ohio-both controlled by Republicans and in fact the Bush campaign( Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris served as state co-chair of the Bush-Cheney campaign during the 2000 presidential election, and Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell served as his state's Bush-Cheney co-chair during the 2004 presidential election.). The real facts and the undeniable truth that all political experts know is that if everybody votes Democrats will generally be in a better position to win. Therefore, there are and have been a series of voting obstructions placed in the way of voters from conservative parties starting with the Southern Democrats(poll-taxes/Jim Crow laws) to the Republicans of today(voter purges/excessive identification requirements). Generally, Democrats have historically (or at least eventually) won theses attempts at voter suppression in the Courts-because they hold higher moral and legal ground on these issues.

I have to agree with Stallion here. The Dems certainly are not guilty of voter suppression. They let everyone vote. Dead, alive, incarcerated, minors, legal, illegal, cartoon characters, fictional characters, etc.

Look there's voter BS and both sides have had their dirty tricks with this stuff. This is not uncommon.

The only difference is that the Democrats have had to be more resourceful because the Republicans started beating them at their own game, starting in 2000.
