Two of my best friends coach at Hearne, TX, and have told me that SMU has offered Eagle RB Kenneth Dunn. I questioned to make sure it was the real FEDEX in writing deal, and they said it certainly was (not the oft mentioned "soft offer").
I was wondering if any of you guys in the know here could verify?
A little info. on KD -
(pretty accurate, no exagerations)
He's 5'10" 215, 4.5 (ran at the last A&M camp) - last max I have (from February)he was benching 300 and squatting 400.
He ran for about 900 yds through 5 games last year (w/ NO offensive line, which I witnessed myself). Then broke his femur in the 1st qtr. of the sixth game.
On top of that, he's a pretty good kid.
Anyway, I'm a little biased, due to my friends, but I think he will be a good player. And that squat is AFTER breaking his Femur in around October.
I don't know if he'd be recruited as a RB by SMU (especially with the hall you had last year). I actually thought Bennett might be recruiting him for LB or something.
Anyway, just curious, if anyone has any insite.
FYI- I'm an Aggie grad, but a long time SMU fan and big time Phil Bennett fan and told my buddy that he really needs to let Ken know what he's doing with the program up here and what a great opportunity it could be.

He's on Dave Campbell's Texas Top 300.
And not to split hairs, but the BrazosSports.com reported that he had rushed for roughly 600 yards at the time of his broken leg. Even so, he sounds like a talented back.

Thanks Lotus,
I don't consider that splitting hairs, there's a HUGE difference between 180 ypg and 120 ypg. I'll check on that, I thought that's what his coaches told me, but I could've made a mistake (I think I did that once before, back in the 90's)
Do you know if he's been offered for sure?

At the District 21-2A track and field championships this year, Dunn ran the anchor leg on the first-place 4x100 relay that won the event in 42.85 and he won the 100-meter dash in 10.83.
He also ran the first leg in the second-place 4x200 relay that finished in 1:31.33
Sounds like this guy can really motor!

And Dave Campbell reported he ran for 610 yards and 10 touchdowns in four games before he got hurt.

Thanks Hoofprint,
You and Lotus are right, I went back and checked, it was 610 yds in 4 games.
I also found his carries - 54, which means he had an 11.3 ypc average!
I did want to mention, too, that he was actually squatting 400 LAST summer, before the leg injury, so IMO he should work his way back.
On top of all this, his b-day is in August, he's still just 16.
Anyway, don't know why I sound like I'm putting on the sales pitch. I just think he's a good kid and athlete.
So far I know Tulsa, OkSt and Fobbs from TAMU have gone to watch tape, but I think SMU is his first offer.

You SHOULD put on the sales pitch, DR95. He sounds like a terrific athlete. 11 yards per carry is a great average, against any level of competition.

What's Dunn's reaction to SMU's offer? Will he accept?

To my knowledge, I don't believe he has had much push from the SMU coaching staff, which is one reason the offer surprises me and why I was hoping someone could verify.
I think that this caused him to not be as enthusiastic as he could have been.
He also doesn't have much knowledge of the SMU program, due partly to proximity...he grew up a Texas and TAMU fan.
I also think he probably doesn't understand yet that despite the fact that he is a very good athlete and heck of a football player, chances are he's not going to have Miami, Texas, OU and/or any other perinnial top 20 team beating down his door this early, if at all.
