Went to the bi-district playoff game at Texas Stadium between Carroll and Colleyville Heritage.
Dragons won 31-7 but they less than impressive. Defense was solid but backup QB David Piland didn't offer very much. Missed receivers badly. Whatever his stats were, don't look as those as gospel.
This is the worst looking Carroll team I've seen since their move to 5A. No playmakers. I know they also don't have their starting RB but still.
But it helped Carroll that Heritage's high-powered offense completely completely flamed out.
If the Dragons are going to make a move in the playoffs, they have to have Padron. Some Carroll people told me they thought Padron could be back next week for their game against Cedar Hill.
If he's not, I don't know how they survive that game.

I'm not surprised. I think the party is over for the Dragons for the foreseeable future.

That class is overrated. Wasson is fine. He walked into an unfair situation behind Dodge.

Their stupid fans think it should be 16-0 every season. I thought he did a pretty good job in light of losing Padron. Piland sucks and wasn't ready. WRs can't make a play. Evers and Rake are so not good.
Sure he knew what he was getting into. Dodge also knew what he was leaving -- A SEVERE TALENT DROP OFF!! Their fans better face reality that it ain't gonna be Christmas in San Antonio every year.
The only player worth a spit on that team is Braydon Burnett.

2001-2006 5 Loses (4 were in 2001)
2007-2008 5 Loses
how do you explain southlake losing in 2007 with the same team that won it all in 2006?

It's called losing Riley Dodge in the first half against Abilene and Tre Newton playing at about 50 percent and a blown snap on the chip shot field goal that would have won that game.
You ain't gonna win it every year. Get used to it. Carroll fans need to suck it up.
Hell, Katy lost 3 games this year -- and one of those was to Katy Cinco Ranch, whom Carroll defeated. So go figure.

This is the same crap that Tom Rapp went through when he replaced Bob Ledbetter. He got run out of town because the best he could do was get to the state quarterfinals with Nathan Chandler.
Rapp never got a fair shake and he inherited a program that was going through a talent down cycle. Ledbetter correctly bailed as the head coach when Carroll moved up to 4A because he knew the talent wasn't good enough.
And when Carroll missed the playoffs, you would have thought Rapp committed Treason.
And if we're praising Dodge so much -- and I think he is a great coach -- then how come he didn't tear it up at Cameron Yoe, Carrollton Newman Smith and Keller Fossil Ridge?
Simple answer: Didn't have the players.
He had a sub or near .500 record before he got to Carroll.

wasson had the players last year to beat abilene (even with the injuries)

You also knew that Blake Cantu wasn't 100 percent healthy. You're getting hammered in this argument because you come off sounding like the typical ENTITLED Carroll follower.
Carroll was also the better team against Katy in 2003 in the title game? Did they win it?
Whatever. You didn't win the game. Sounds like you're having a hard time letting that game go. Ridiculous.
