Reading this year's magazine, here are a few items from that publication's analysis of SMU's recruiting class arriving this fall.
"Only three players made a newspaper list, but all three were good ones: quarterback Ricky Joe Meeks, running back Richuel Massey and linebacker Avery Cleveland. Some, in fact, think this was the best class in the WAC."
And, according to Randy Rodgers, the former Texas recruiting coordinator who picks the Super Team and Top 300 for Texas Football:
"SMU got some early commitments, which was unusual for them, and did an awfully good job of mining the Metroplex. Fred Turner (from Arlington Lamar) will surprise some people, and I like Avery Cleveland. And they got a quality kicker (Ryan Wolcott) and punter (Meeks). But the early commitments was the story here."
Other notes from Texas Football:
Ricky Joe Meeks was the #5 QB signed out of Texas
Richuel Massey was the #4 RB
Avery Cleveland was the #7 LB
And they have Vincent Chase on their all-5A first team!
