Former coach at Div. 1-AA Texas State University. Unbelievable.

Sorry Mr. Mustang. I said before you guys played Rice that Bailiff would surprise a lot of people. He did. Not sure how they set up for next season however losing some major pieces on their offense but Bailiff is a good coach. I wish we could have kept him.

They lose the qb and Dillard but keep the rest of their playmakers and a big slice of the O and D . If they can find a fair qb should be set again.

I still say Clement will at least be an equal loss. Very possibly Conference USA Player of the Year.

I want to go on record as saying that I predicted Rice to go downhill as the season progressed, and have been proven wrong. Congrats to them on a great season, and here's to putting them below us in the near future.

How was their recruiting the last few years? Is that a result of Graham??

Isn't it correct that Graham was only there for one season and one, maybe two recruiting classes. True that Bailiff inherited a bunch of players and play makers but he is a heck of a recruiter too. We just went back to the playoffs and won conference using his three recruiting classes at Texas State.

Kudos to Rice. My second favorite CUSA team.

Always nice to see a school with a super brainy student body have success.

TG is a real arrogant jerk. I think Bailiff will stick around down there. I'm impressed.

Maybe June Jones could study the Rice model? As it stands currently recruiting has been our downfall over the years.

How do we convince a JD to come to the Hilltop?

Go Owls!

You all know how quickly coaches run through C-USA - stepping stone conference for a bigger, better paying job. I understand JJ's comments about the rebuilding process taking time. Didn't take Rice long. 9-3 this year; 3-9 last year. Why can't that be SMU for a change??

I've wondered that same thing for years. I am hoping that the answer is not "because we are the Texas Rangers of college football".

as I mentioned before, when Clement was the QB at Alamo Heights he contacted SMU on his own and was told we didn't need him and he did not have the arm strength to play Div. I ball. how did that work out again ?

Gotta love the quality recruiting skills of Phil Bennett. Man was a moron when it comes to talent evaluation and coaching hires.

The seniors, including Clements and Dillard, were recruited by Hatfield....not bad for a wishbone coach.

Graham recruited the middle classes, although some decommited when he left, and then Bailiff did the rest.

Rice received top 25 votes in all of the major polls, pretty damn impressive. Hope they can win their bowl game and get a few more.

Rice succeeding is a good thing, if they can, we can too.

Looks like the bowl projections have them coming to Fort Worth to play Air Force. They had a great season.
