I'm sure he's a good player, or prospect, but this shows how silly the stars system is. Whoever gets this guy will tout him as a four-star guy, while others will dismiss him as a marginal prospect (the schools won't, but their fans will). If coaches who have shown an ability to identify talent (like say ... June Jones) likes him, then I like him.

According to Rivals, despite the loss Ryan enjoyed his visit and sounds like he will commit if SMU offers!

I just looked at Rivals and it appears that they have him at 3 stars 5.6. Must have been downgraded because of his interest in us! :o

if we are going to start a pipeline to any school in the country right now-considering the present state of the program-Navarro JC might be the best.

On his individual page, he is shown as a 3 star while in Rivals discussions, he is referred to as a 4 star. Do not know what is going on with the ranking.

Hard to say...exactly what position is a "junior?"
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

The initial poster stated that he didn't think SMU had a 4-star signee since the DP. It's a little foggy now, but I seem to recall that Cavan got a commit from a 5-star recruit after the 6-5 1997 season. Don't remember the signee's name, but I think he was from Dallas. As I recall, he never amounted to anything. Played a little special teams his freshman year and then transferred to Arkansas or something.

Maybe Stallion remembers the name.

Marcus Mosley...he failed out.
He was allegedly the source of controversy behind Assistant Coach Malin's termination. Allegedly, Malin had encouraged another student take Mosley's ACT.
