And the Malin incident singlehandedly killed what would have been an SMU football resurgence as Cavan could flat out recruit. 6-5 in 1997 for the only post-DP winning season. Killer recruiting classes in 1997 and 1998 promise to keep this thing rolling into perpetuity. Then Malin.
Little known SMU football history.
Here's hoping we get this kid and a few DL jucos.

Malin was supposedly one of his stud recruiters...go figure.

Ah yes. . .Marcus Mosley. Good times.
I remember the press conference with Copeland and Cavan when the NCAA penalties were announced. As Cavan left the building, I remember some alumni or reporter (not sure which) called out, "Where are you headed Coach?" Cavan muttered, "Just goin' recruitin'" without even breaking stride. He looked like a defeated man at that point. With the benefit of hindsight, I think he was.
Of course that's ancient history now. I'm excited to see what June and his staff can accomplish now that they can turn their full attention to recruiting.

If he wasn't having grade trouble than we wouldn't have a shot @ him, right?
So this is good. Let's hope he goes to class & passes PE & all those other tough classes down in Corsicana JC & gets to the hilltop.
Now once he gets here (hopefully)can he stay eligible?
Love this recruiting stuff!

Rivals has had some very good insight as to why Tech and Clark went different directions, where he's at in the recruiting process, if we've offered, and why he went from a 4 star to a 3 star.

i think this has been kind of an issue...to get better we gotta start getting athletes who are students, not students who are athletes.

the bottom line appears to be he will not graduate until May or this summer and TT did not want to wait. We have not offered. If JJ decides he wants him, he will come on an official visit and be formally offered.
