You know, given that Auburn folks have long had Tuscaloosa envy. I wonder if they are thinking Franchione. He did recruit well for the Tide, he's unemployed, and might be willing to work cheaper than even Patterson. If Auburn hired Patterson, TCU would be smart to hire Tuberville. They'd win that trade.

Houston Nutt is apparently a top candidate for the Auburn post, which has some people in Oxford pretty worried/angry right now. Nutt met with the Ole Miss AD/chancellor this morning apparently to discuss the vacancy. I don't think he goes -- he likes Oxford and Ole Miss and this is more likely a chance for him to iron out some of the differences he's had with Pete Boone (the AD).

Also on the rumor front, I heard that an Auburn jet was spotted in Memphis today, so is Tommy West headed to Tigerland?

He's led a middling C-USA team to a few budget bowls. It would make about as much sense as hiring Fred Smith (FedEx's CEO). A more serious possibility I've heard of is Jimbo Fisher.

Just saw that Nutt got another year out of Ole Miss by starting a rumor that he wanted the Auburn job.
